Question for those non D.C. Skins fans...

Well, like it's already been said, the sports bar idea is pretty good if you don't want to pay for any kind of satellite service. I'm underage but there are plenty of sports bars around my school in Tampa and they all show pretty much every NFL game on Sundays; I watched the Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers, and St. Louis games all at bars, and they always let me in, I just couldn't order alchohol naturally. When I couldn't get to a bar though I just "watched" the game using the NFL.com live coverage stats featuring the little lines moving around on the football field. Then of course I came home to D.C. for winter break to see their playoff run firsthand beginning with the Dallas game, so maybe you could find a bar for awhile and then go home for break to catch a few games? Just do what you gotta do man for the team.

Hey man, this is a good site if you want to find radio stations broadcasting the games: http://www.thegamelive.com/.

I'm in CA for college and I don't have a TV, so I couldn't get Sunday ticket or anything. I used that site to find online radio stations that broadcasted the games. I couldn't get anything from the WJFK, so I had to find the opposition's radio stations. If you can bear listening to the other teams' announcers, it's all good. And the other problem is that you won't always be able to find a radio station that broadcasts the game.

Judging from the amount of skins fans at the Arizona game this past season, I think its a safe bet you'll find plenty of skins fans out there, so see if you can find where they get together to watch games. If you can't get into the bars, just find a restaurant that shows games in their bar.

I'm not sure this would work in AZ but someone I know (definitely not me.....) moved out of the DC area but signed up for DirecTV using his old DC-area address. This person (a friend of mine....) has the bills sent to his new (billing only) address. He gets all of the DC local stations (including Comcast Sportsnet) yet doesn't live in the area. Might only work on the East coast as the locals are broadcast from a second satellite (have to be able to pick up both signals).

Well, if you know anyone who has the direct tv package already and wouldn't mind you watching programming off of their tv you could buy a Slingbox to hook up to their tv. Then as long as you have internet access you could watch the game from anywhere.

Check it out, pretty cool technology.

After 10 years of going to the bar at 11:00am (before they even sell alchyhol) I ponyed up two years ago for sunday ticket. Best money I ever spent.

At 200+-/year that added up to 20 (which is fairly conservative) at the bar for 10 games since only the games against the pukes are guaranteed to be on broadcast. I was paying about 30 or 40 MORE per year to go to the bar.

You have to call around the local Resteraunts and Bars. A Lot of bars have an area to just eat and not necessarily drink.

I went to college in Ohio and I found a restaraunt that had Sunday Ticket, I would call ahead and make sure they could play my game even if only on a little TV. Also there was a Sports bar that would play whatever game you wanted and they had a dinning room area awat from the bar where you could be under age and watch the game.

Currently I have the ST, best thing money can buy. You'll meet huge Football fans at school for sure, see if they will all pitch in and get the ST? Are you in a dorm?

I agree. It cheaper to get the Sunday ticket then what you are going to spend at the bar. I would average 15 to 20 bucks every game at the bar. You break even at game 10. Get a bunch of friends to chip in and it becomes a no brainer.

Also, the fact that the early games start at 10AM in Arizona, watching the games at your place is just better the walking into a bar.

The best bet is to ante up and have a few people chip in for the Direct TV. Even though some sports bars may have Direct TV they usually will not have every game playing because the locals will usually be watching their team. I live close to Tampa and probably got to see about 5 games on TV and in sports bars. I went to the other 2 games at Raymond James and missed the other half of the season. It is usually pretty difficult to see what game is playing in your area if it isn't your local team. You'll go mad trying to see if they will show the Skins games or not. Don't waste your time if you want to see everygame. The best chance is definitely getting the Direct TV then you don't have to depend on anyone else showing it or not.

Just hit any local sports bar. As long as yer not tryin to scam any "tall cold ones"..I'm sure they'd let you pull up a chair, relax, and watch the Skins' Road to Glory.

Cheers~

Yup...you only have to be 21 to buy alcohol...kick back, order a sandwich and a soda, and watch the Redskins pound yet another team into submission...

I have no problem drinking at 10am on game day what so ever.

Just not in public!

i feel yah moved out of skins broadcast area for the first timecouple years ago, i went the sports bar route for the first game, wash @ atl(ps it was my wifes birthday that day as well, she wasnt real happy about that birthday dinner) and buddy it sucked!!!!remeber fans of other teams will also be there and they are agrivateing. you also have to factor in the cost of sports bars they expect you to pay through the nose for their food. direct tv is the way to go they will split up the cost of the sunday ticket over a couple months and you can also get the sports pack tier which gives you all of the foxsports and comcast station across the nation. so you can still watch comcast, even though czabin is douche and b.mitch is a bitter former player that always thinks he could do better. BRING BACK CHARLES MANN AND KEN HARVEY!!!!!!

I was going to get DirecTV but my apartment complex wasn't having any part of bolts going into the building so i bit the bullet and went to a local damon's. if you want to listen to it you could always get sirius radio. i'd recommond any chain w/ sunday ticket...it's not as hard to find a place as you'd think. I also met some pretty cool skins fans at the damon's here in pittsburgh

Alright, for the next season...school year I will be moving out to Flagstaff Arizona with my brother for college...I absolutly can NOT miss a single skins game, yet im sure I wont find the game in any local bar (if they would let me in under 21) and the only other alternatives I can think of are some of these online services, or the NFL Packages with Cable companies...

What services do you non D.C. or east coast guys use to view all the Redskins action? Which is the best way to go? Remember: College- limited budget :)

Well, I'm in Iowa and I can see all the games at several bars with the NFL package. Though age isn't a problem for me, most bars here will let minors (under 21) in until 7pm.

That should take care of most of them.

For games after 7pm, you can probably see them on a national station or cable channel.

These is one more way to go, that costs money but not quite as expensive as Directv.

Its called FTA (Free to Air) Sattelite. It takes a lil hacking but works just fine. I live in Southern California and watch all skins games for free, of course I had to pay for my FTA receiver.

Its not easy to start with but once you read the forums you will learn how to hack Di$h Network. Directv was hacked about 3 years ago but has since been unhackable, the same cannot be said for Dish network.

True, they do not offer an NFL package but with an FTA receiver and the rights hacks, you will get ALL the Di$h Network Programming for FREE! All the Movie channels,Pay per view, Regional Fox Sports channels and PORN!! 5 channels of full blown penetrationg money shot porn on 24 hours a day.. but I digress.

Heres how you are able to see all the skins games. When you hack di$hetwork with the FTA receiver you can basically grab as many signals that are being broadcast to dishnetworks sattelite which includes Local channels. So I set some of my locals for Roanoke, VA fox and Comcast from DC so I can see all the skins games then see the post game show all from Southern California, for free!...its a beautiful thing. I also have local channels for New York, Atlanta,Denver, Jacksonville, and 8 or 9 other small cities throughout the US.

All you need is a Dish Network Sattelite pointed correctly and a FTA receiver. You can but Pansat 2500 off ebay for 50-100$.

I called Dishnetwork and signed up for their subscription to get free installatin of the dish and all the wiring done, then cancelled after 3 months and watch TV for free. Or course this is just for testing purposes I would never steal satttelite signals. :o)

Do you homework though, it takes lots of reading a some technical know how.

heres a couple of forums that have all the how to's and files you will need to program your receiver. Good luck!
