Wynn has done nothing to lose his job.

what has he done to keep it?

this past season it looked like his skills were slipping,he struggled at getting QB pressure last year. This year he was non-existant as a pass rusher. Wynn is a good guy and a team leader, but he is not producing on the field for his large salary.

3 sacks in 2004

.5 yes .5 in 2005

he is pulling down 2-3 million in cap space for 2006

he won't be much more expensive,he still has little to no hype coming behind his name.

Hype comes from the media. And unfortunately (or fortunately, sometimes) for us, league personnel does not gather their information from the media.

He will be highly sought after and will come at a very steep price, as would any probowl defensive end.

What has he done to keep his jobe? How about helping anchor a line that in the past two years, has been one of the best run stuffers in the league? And how about helping anchor a line that leads the league in tipped passes, which can be said to have an effect equivilant to that of a sack?

he did not anchor the line, the anchor of the line was Cornelius Griffin,he was the 4th best player on a 4 man line.He had 1 tipped pass all season. You think a tipped pass is equal to a sack? On a sack, the QB is hit and yardage is lost. tipped passes are just glorified incompletions unless intercepted.

sacks>tipped passes

Wynn is a good guy and team leader, but he is not pulling his weight for his contract.

amen brother. Its annoying listening to people whine about our d-line not having big sack numbers. Do you guys listen to Greg Williams at all??? Our d-line is out there to stop the run, PERIOD. We have all sorts of crazy blitz packages for our linebackers and d-backs. Renaldo Wynn IS the anchor of our d-line, GW will be the first to tell you that. That being said, both Daniels and Wynn are getting up there in age so if we pick up a DE this offseason it wouldnt surprise me. If thats the case, it would be a move for the future and for some depth for the last couple years of Wynn/Daniels careers. You definately wont see us pick up an Abraham type d-lineman, we've got other, more important slots to fill this year as GW is content with our D-line. If we do pick up a d-lineman, it will either be a mediocre free agent type for depth or we may draft someone to groom for the future.

On a D-line with more than 20+ tipped passes, I find that hard to believe.

And both sacks and tipped passes leads to a loss of downs, while a tipped pass also leads to a significant increase in the chances of an interception, a la, the Tampa game.

And I suppose you wouldn't appreciate team leadership and locker room values? Of course, that doesn't factor in to what he earns - he only earns his paycheck from the hours of 1 to 4 on Sunday afternoons. The fact that he hasn't tackled the quarterback twelve times when he has the ball signifies the fact that he is a horrible defensive end, and is the source of all of our defensive problems (which we have just soooo many).
