I think Tailgate's days are numbered. IMO.

With nothing better to do for 30 minutes one day I followed a Moderators posts by search. Every post seemed to have this negative angle toward the discussion at hand in tailgate.

Right or wrong, debate is why I come to this site. I may not be the best at words but this is why I spend the quantity of time here. I may offend some and cross the line on occassion as do others. But that is going to happen.

Should tailgate go, I would surely go.

I don't see Tailgate leaving. Well before that happened I'm sure the mods would make attempts to save it, whether that involved posting limits (like a maximum number of posts per person per day), stricter rules enforcement, or whatever.

I'd hate to think I'd have to find something else to do with the time I kill here.

What's been causing all the trouble lately is trolls that have nothing better to say other than how much they hate people who disagree with them, and how stupid, wimpy, and useless their opponents are. The Tailgate always got pretty heated without these idiots. It's only gotten worse since their arrival. Hopefully they'll start really crossing the line, instead of just tapdancing all over it, and rid us of their presence. Because if they don't, the Tailgate could be no more.

Then do you part to keep your cool and don't cross the line. In what you said above you admitted your own culpability in the problem.

If you respect other people and report when they have crossed the line, then Tailgate will certainly stay. If, however, you instigate and badger, then you are part of the problem and we aren't going to facilitate that kind of behavior. It's that simple--and I'm speaking generally here in this paragraph, not to you personally.

When people can't be civil to one another, threads get closed. Recently many posters have shown an inability to be debate things without anger and vitriol. Accordingly, those threads have been closed. And this goes for people on both (or every) side of the aisle.

The Tailgate is not for people to engage in continual vendetta. If that's what it devolves to, then it may be suspended. However, if people can engage in friendly debate, if heated yet respectful, then the Tailgate will survive.

It's up to all of you.

But that would require exercising thought and perhaps even self-control before we post... ;)

NOt much more to say than that. Personally I have learned to avoid the religious threads. Mainly b/c I get tired of the judging that goes on by both sides of that argument. Religion is volatile topic and usually stirs emotionally charged tirades that inevitably turn personal. :2cents:

What iheart said.

For those of you who may be new, try a search on kefka, from around 2001 to March 2002. Considering the times and the subjects, restraint was practiced very well indeed. For my part, those times set the standard for the Tailgate. One that all who participate should aspire too.

There haven't been any serious discussions about Tailgate going anywhere - and I don't know where you're getting that from? There may well be a few Tailgate posters that lose access to that forum soon though. Theres nothing more our moderators would like than to never have to engage - and when folks treat each other civilly, we won't. Until then, we'll do whatevers necessary, whether it makes anyone love us more or not.

I was not referring to any discussions at all.

I suppose the day I had some interest I noticed a lot of posts where mods were definately not supportive of the overall tone of conversation. Not too hard to check out the nature of these posts.

Don't get me wrong I like to post on this site. That being said I know what I enjoy that this site seems to have. And that is a good place to follow the Redskins and carry conversation / debate on topics that matter to me. I am glad to hear confirmation that what I was concerned about is not true.

There are a handful of posters who routinely turn up in "reported posts" to the staff, cross lines, instigate, etc., and who are in the middle of practically every thread/debate that turns ugly and requires staff intervention.

Some of them know who they are.

Others, apparently, do not.

We, you can be sure, DO.

When things reach critical mass, as they have in the past, and as they appear to maybe be doing again now, we step in.

And when we do, it's not Tailgate that goes away.

If you catch my drift.

Simple as that. :)

Let's see, socialism is just euphemism for communism but I'll humor you. Socialists vs. democrats

Anti-religion - check

Anti-guns - check (can't have the masses rising up against the man).

Abortions on demand - check

Taxation up the yin yang - check (Commie mantra, what's yours is mine.)

Socialized healthcare - check

Anti-war at all costs - check

Anti-Israel at all costs - check

Pro-unions - check

These are just off the top of my head. Am I missing anything with my "backwards" definition?

Chopper, come on, dude, don't fight it. You're a closet commie. Just scream out, "VIVA CHE!!" You'll feel better.

Dude, you're just showing your ignorance. Socialism isn't a euphemism for Communism.

Moreover, I'm pro-gun, pro-necessary war, vehemently pro-Israel, and fairly anti-union. So are many liberals. Additionally, I'm not a democrat. I'm moderately liberal. My beliefs fall more in line with the Democrats than the Republicans, but there are many scenarios in which I would certainly side with the Republicans. You're just using hasty generalizations to get across a point you don't even understand.

Show some decorum, get your facts straight, and come back when you've learned not to be a troll.

Edit: Also, I forgot to point out, a grand total of two of the things you listed can be identified as socialist principles. Two.
