Bed, Bath & Beyond Roof Collapse

The Fire Department has completed their search of Bed Bath and Beyond in St. Petersburg, Fla.

They did not find anyone else and have given the building an "All Clear," and they are leaving the scene.

There is a puddle about 30 feet in diameter and six inches deep on the roof.

Rescue crews are on the scene of a shopping center in St. Pete, where the roof has collapsed at a Bed, Bath and Beyond.

The entire strip mall at 2060 66th Street N has been evacuated, near Tyrone Square.

Officials on the scene say the interior portion of the building’s roof experienced a partial collapse due to heavy rain. This affected the register area in front of store.

All employees have been accounted for. Progress Energy shut off the electricity to the store so firefighters could get inside and make sure everyone got out.

One person was taken to the hospital with lacerations, and a paramedic was transported after suffering a seizure at the scene.

Police say rescue efforts are being hampered by the continuing heavy rain that has flooded sections of the parking lot.
