SkinFan63
Found this thread next door in the "Around The NFL" room: http://www.tenmojo.com/sports/football/football_nfl_best_teams_all_time.htm Thought I would bring it over here to respond to the Redskins 1991 team listed as #4. (Just the 1991 team!) That's ironic as hell, because the the truth of the matter is our beloved Redskins ARE the 4th winningest team in NFL history through the 2004 season. (Period) And that is pretty sweet. Trivia: Who are the top three ahead of us? Scroll down for answer 1.Chicago Bears 2.Green Bay Packers 3.New York Giants While we're at it: Did you know Sammy Baugh was the first NFL player ever to intercept 4 passes in one game? The 2004 Redskins had only 6 rushing TD's for the entire season. Corine Griffith (wife of team founder George Preston Marshall) wrote "Hail To The Redskins." John Williams holds the team record for punt return average for one season. God I love my new 2006 Redskin calender. Hail!:point2sky
SkinsFTW
A bunch of errors in that top 10 list. (Just read it, we didn't beat Denver 45-0 in 1991 for instance and Chicago didn't have the #1 scoring offense in 1985 either) I agree mostly with the top 4 teams except maybe the 49ers who had an easy road year after year to the SB (played Vikings, Rams, and Broncos in the postseason that year). The Redskins would have won those games as well and didn't even make the playoffs at 10-6. 1999 Rams are not the #5 team. They are overrated and almost lost to Tampa, and then Tennessee in the SB. 1986 Giants should be higher than #6. One of the GB SB teams should be higher, same with the Steelers but probably not the one that beat the Rams. The 1996 Packers, as good as they are probably would have lost if not for Desmond Howard. 1976 Raiders should be on the list. They lost 1 game and dominated the Vikings in the SB after spanking the Steelers.

Hail!:point2sky [/QUOTe He handled the punting also.Sammy led the league in punting average at around 49 yards per kick one year.I might not have all this straight but he also led the NFL passing and interceptions(13) one year while playing safety as wellas qb.Someone correct me if I am wrong about that taking place in in the same season. What a great player!

What a great player! No you're right. I think the average was around 50 or 51 but it as a record for single season punting average, talk about a triple threat
MaddogCT
The year was 1943 and Baugh led the NFL in passing, punting, and interceptions (def). http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/indiv/punting Highest Average, Punting, Season (Qualifiers) 51.40 Sammy Baugh, Washington, 1940 (35-1,799) http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=21 The 1991 Redskins beat the Detroit Lions 45-0 in the first game of the season. I watched old game footage and it was unreal! I decided to purchase a Sammy Baugh throwback jersey after seeing that! I also think that our team that lost to the raiders was one of the best teams of all time, just didnt put it together that game
