dks1240
I am going to meet with a guy about working a few hours on a local horsefarm. I've always liked riding horses for fun and I like messy, gross outside jobs so I figured I'd give it a shot and go interview with the guy...just for some extra cash. Can anyone tell me a quick run down of taking care of horses? I know that's a very broad question and someone who knows a lot could ramble on forever but I'd figure I'd see what I could get out of this. thanks a lot
HOF44
Depends on what you'll be doing. Are you barn help or actually working with the horses? Barn help stinks. You mostly shovel stalls all day and clean everything. Put water and food out.
dks1240
seems like a little bit of both. the guy just said taking the horses out, grooming them, feeding them, cleaning out stalls.
RLeVan
If he's a boarding the horses, the closest you'll probably get it is grooming and cleaning stalls. Possibly feeding. Owners tend to be pretty strict about other people riding their horses.
HOF44
My boss shows and breeds Quarter Horses. They have one group of help that cleans, maintains the barn and feeds. Then the trainers groom, excersize, train and care for the horses.
edgun88
they need to be brushed daily and if it is hot outside you wet them down with a hose... done
