In a mild shocker, head coach Joe Gibbs has relinquished more control of his offense with the hiring of Al Saunders. His work as offensive coordinator in Kansas City clearly attracted the Redskins, who plan on paying him about $2 million annually — more than several NFL head coaches.

In a mild shocker, head coach Joe Gibbs has relinquished more control of his offense with the hiring of Al Saunders. His work as offensive coordinator in Kansas City clearly attracted the Redskins, who plan on paying him about $2 million annually — more than several NFL head coaches. What’s interesting is that Saunders, as of this writing, had no official title; team sources indicate that he’ll be a significant offensive assistant, ostensibly the coordinator, though the Redskins have an unusual coaching structure. The team now has four former NFL head coaches — Gibbs, Saunders (who coached the Chargers in the mid-1980s), Joe Bugel and Gregg Williams — in what is now the highest-paid coaching staff in NFL history. Saunders’ work with the offense will include sprucing up the passing game. Expect the team to use more screen passes, something the Chiefs did effectively under Saunders. But more screens only will help if the team can add another receiving threat.

Already the scuttlebutt has begun about the Redskins wanting to add Colts free-agent WR Reggie Wayne — a college roommate and close friend of Redskins WR Santana Moss — but the team has some considerable salary-cap hurdles to overcome to make that happen.

where is this from?

From the Colts website at foxsports.com : Wayne and Harrison were 1-2 in receiving for the Colts this season with 83 and 82 receptions, respectively. Harrison had more yards (1,146) and touchdowns (12) despite missing playing time late in the year with wrist and hand injuries. Wayne will be an unrestricted free agent but team president Bill Polian has said that he is committed to signing him to a career contract.

Rest of story is there.

It appears to me anyway that they are comitted to keeping Wayne at damn near any cost so i dont forsee him going anywhere especially here.Personally Randle El looked pretty good yesterday against Denver and would come probably a lot cheaper than Wayne. But it does look like Wayne is going to most likely be a Colt again next season and many more to come.

The Colts have already stated that if they aren't able to sign Reggie Wayne to an extension, they will slap the franchise tag on him. They view him as Marvin Harrison's successor, and Harrison is getting up there in age.

Wayne isn't going anywhere. Edgerrin James is.

If we have Wayne when we go to Miami for XLI next year there might just be enough U players on the skins to cause the whole city to blow up completely when the craziness starts. Win or Lose. It'll be awesome. Needless to say, if ST isn't in jail by june he will be after a visit to superbowl Miami.

Thanks to what this team did in Free Agency back pre-Gibbs, we will be linked to every major FA available at any position at which we are remotely weak. Don't believe anything you read until it is an official press release from the Skins. Everyone in the media thinks they know but they don't know.

scut·tle·butt ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sktl-bt)

n.

Slang. Gossip; rumor.

Nautical.

A drinking fountain on a ship.

A cask on a ship used to hold the day's supply of drinking water.

I don't think this scuttlebutt holds water!!!!!!

But, I would love to be proven wrong!!

I really think the Colts are going to fall apart in this off season. It's been 2 years in a row that they've blown it in the playoffs to teams they could easily beat.

Watch for a lot of players to bail out of Indy.

Agreed :2cents: Colts are done. Reggie Wayne would be a great pick up ..but dont think we can pull that off
