Offseason Draft Bios

I have done a lot of extensive research and I watch a ton of college football. Here is what my friends and I like to call our draft "wish" list. We usually bet money as to who can get their respective teams draft the closest so as I said I do a lot of research. I'll put together a free agency one as well. Instead of typing in all of the information for each player I will just link that player to a bio. The lists are in order of preference.

Jonathan Joseph. Pick him. Saw him play alot at USC this year. Incredible speed and athletic ability. Doesn't wrap up when he tackles, sometimes hits soft, but that can be corrected. Also drops interceptions which is frustrating. Covers well, hard to pass up on a corner this speedy.

I think Joseph has been overlooked a lot this year because of the play of South Carolina's safety Ko Simpson (First rounder). I agree that he has some tendencies but he is the type of guy that will grow into the position. He reminds me a lot of Chris Gamble.

Great job, as someone who looks at the draft, I have Lawson going late first or early second. If he falls, great pick. DE's don't tend to fall. I like Setter too in the third round. Valued just about where we pick. the rest I plead ignorance on; but think picks should be on wide reciever prospects.

I think Nance is going to be a steal in this draft for whoever drafts him wherever they draft him. The guy is a playmaker with unreal speed for a guy with his size.

Do you think that Nance is this year's Chris Henry? Looking at his BIO, that's who he reminds me of. I think we despirately need a big WR like that.

I'm also in favor of drafting the most athletic corner available with our third round pick. That's what Denver did last year when they drafted three guys. Now they have three good young corners AND Champ Bailey.

Drafting a DE doesn't excite me, but I guess we have to do it eventually.

It is very possible that we could have the chance to draft Mark Setterstrom (3rd), Martin Nance (2nd), Jonathan Joseph (4th), and Ray Edwards (3rd).

We get a 4th round compensatory pick for losing Pierce and a 3rd round pick for Ramsey. Setterstrom is exactly what I am looking for to backup Dock (or challenge him) and Randy Thomas.

Along with drafting Nance who I think is too good to pass up (if he is not available, I do not want to draft a receiver), we should also sign a no. 2.

Joseph would be a great prospect for Dewayne Walker to groom into Shawn Springs's future replacement.

Ray Edwards could be our situational edge rusher who comes in on 3rd downs. I also want to sign Kampman to replace Wynn.

Now this is what I am talking about. This solves so many problems. I love Kampman and he is not too expensive. I think that Setterstrom is perfect for our system and could be a great pick up in the third. He is a pulling guard who can also block the passing game well. If Nance is gone, and there is a good chance that he will be, I still think that Baskett will be there. Hopefully if we get a 3rd for Ramsey it will be earlier enough to get Ray Edwards. There definately seems to be some pretty good options out there.

I don't think Joseph will fall to the 4th but if he does he would be a steal. If he's gone I like another O-Lineman or Will Blackman who is the type of corner that can be groomed with the right coaching.

Heres who i would draft.

Round 2/Martin Nance/WR

Round 3/Eric Henderson/DE

Round 3/Johnathon Joseph/CB

Round 4/Kevin Boothe/G

Round 5/Mason Crosby/K

Round 6/Josh Betts/QB

I honestly think we should take Martin Nance/WR before we take a Defensive End even if Daryll Tapp is still available. I think having a 6 foot 5 inch guy who can run a 4.33 and has good hands would be perfect for this offence. Just think about it, Santana Moss is double covered racking up 35 Yards that game, while on the other side Martin Nance is racking up 110 Yards and 2 Touchdowns that game. Then the next Week Martin Nance has 18 Yards and Santana Moss and 189 Yards and 1 Touchdown and Chris Cooley has 32 Yards with 2 Touchdowns. Then Clinton Portis numbers would go up so much higher becuase they couldnt put 8 in the box anymore. Plus, I think the defensive staff likes the defensive line and would rather improve on offence.

I agree to the point that I do think that the offseason will be dedicated first and foremost to the offense and then secondly to the defense. Even if we do pick up a free agent WR, if he isn't under 28 then we should still look to draft Nance or Baskett. Either of those could be great in the slot.

I think that Edwards or Henderson are the way to go 3rd round.

Setterstrom / Blackman and the Joseph / Boothe options would both make me happy.

Has anyone seen much Georgia Tech football this year?? I saw very little but from what I have read online Henderson looks to be a player.
