kevinklein
I realized today (while playing Madden, of course) that Brunell rarely, if ever, uses a pump fake. We saw one against Tampa Bay on the fake WR screen to Moss, and Moss ended up wide open. Of course, Moss' openess could be credited to the unbelievable move he put on Barber, but that's besides the point. Do you think Brunell might have an easier time finding recievers if he started incorporating the pump fake into his game plan? Of course it's not something to think about for this year, but next year, if he's still playing.
Thiebear
Soo what your saying is when Brunell plays madden he almost never uses the pump fake? Yeah, me either...

sumodat
I don't thin the pump fake would matter that much. I think some other WR's getting off their tail and getting involved in the game would help him. He does, however, use the pump fake on that money play when he fakes the screen one way and then turns and throws it to Cooley!

skinzplay
Speaking of pump fakes, Hasselbeck is a master at using them. Guys in the secondary had better watch that.
PCS
Pretty sure that pump fakes are used as the play called deems to be. The usual suspect eing the double move or maybe the look, pump fake then pass somewhere else deal. Have seen both of those. Otherwise a wasted movement that takes that valuable second away from getting the ball out of there. Imho that is.
jrockster21
I'm not sure why you guys are jumping on this guy...he has a valid point. Pump fakes can be invaluable in freezing a safety. With as much attention as Moss gets, a pump-fake to him could leave Cooley, Jacobs or Farris wide-open. Too bad Brunell never throws to them...:whoknows:
Romberjo
I agree. And we use surprisingly little play-action, either, which is very odd given that a lot of what we are doing is using Portis (and Betts) to grind it out to set up occasional long throws to Moss. Ah yes! Forgot about that...that's a good play...and obviously the pump plays a big part in it!

So if we were to put more pump fakes in there, wouldn't it mess with the timing some?
supersmartbrunell5
Brunell doesn't do anything out of the box other than scramble. i.e. audibles at the line, pump fake, throw to secondary options, maneuver in the pocket without rolling out, step in to throws without perfect protection... TheSteve
Brunell also doesn't look off the safety either. Ironically, he does what many are on Ramsey's case for: He stares down his target sometimes, and lately his throws have been taking forever to get to the wide reciever.
