Doctor ToughLove
Has a 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th seed ever been led by a Hall of Fame coach before? No I don't believe so. It would appear we are in unchartered territory.
Doctor ToughLove
i do believe the bronco's won the superbowl against the packers as a wildcard That is correct, Denver did win as a wild card. Checked it, the Chiefs won the division by ...1 game. Hmmm.

MustangSteve
There has never been a Wild Card team with this much talent or fight like the Redskins have, records are made to be broken and the Redskins are pretty good at it ;-)

#1SkinsFan
Werent the 2000 Ravens a Wildcard team? yup! the only team to ever win all games on the road in the playoffs and win the SB. *edit*- they had one home game, an won the SB when there were only 4 divisions, so the Wild card got a home game. visionary
I think the Broncos were the second in 1997 and then the Ravens did it in 2000.
Rogers22
Ravens were a wildcard team when they won it all.

Mania
The 2000 Ravens were a Wild Card, however I'm not sure if we were in the new format of 4 divisions / conference. However even prior to the new format we still had the same amount of teams in the playoffs -- prior to the new format there were 3 wild cards / conference. Mania
The Raiders in 1980 vs. the Eagles were also a wild card team, however at this point there was only 1 wild card team / conference and it would've been a 4th seed.
Redskins4ever
The 1979 Los Angeles Rams(9-7) entered the NFC playoffs as a wild card team and beat Dallas and Tampa to reach the Super Bowl. They lost to Bradshaw and the Steelers but they did go. http://www.super70s.com/Super70s/Sports/NFL/1979/Los_Angeles_Rams.asp
TheDane
There's one active coach who gives me the confidence that a 6th seeded Wild Card team could be coached up and prepared to play in order to win three straight road playoff games. Guess who that coach is. Let me give you a hint, it's not Norv Turner; oh, wait, he got fired already. In fact, with the Steelers sitting hot at the 6th seed in the AFC, I'd say that both 6 seeds have good chances to play the three-week spoiler. jrockster21
No team had ever lost five in a row followed by winning the next five, but... The 2001 Skins did it man!! And this year's Skins did not do it.

grhqofb5
The NFL had 5 playoff teams per conference (3 division winner and 2 wild cards) until 1990, when it expanded to 6 playoff teams (3 division winners and 3 wild cards). The weakest division winner was forced to play in the wild card round. When the NFL went to 4 divisions per conference, it didn't change the number of playoff teams per conference, its still only 6. However, now the 2 weakest division winner must play in the wild card round.
FunBunch7
The 1985 Patriots were the 5th seed and won 3 road playoff games to get to the Super Bowl only to have the hineys handed to them by the Bears. Back then there were only 5 teams in each conference that made the playoffs.
