NomadicSkinFan
Sports Illustrated has been kind enough to give us an up to date strength of schedule listing. OK..OK.. so it was done in order to illustrate next years draft order. It does however help to prove a point. Of all the teams that made the playoffs this year, the Redskins had by far the most difficult SOS. New England is a distant 2nd. Only one other team (Denver) had an SOS of .500 or better. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/01/02/bc.fbn.draftorder.ap/index.html 21. y-New England Patriots .508 130-126 22. y-Washington Redskins .539 138-118 23. y-Carolina Panthers .449 115-141 24. y-Tampa Bay Buccaneers .449 115-141 25. y-Chicago Bears .457 117-139 26. y-Cincinnati Bengals .477 122-134 27. y-New York Giants .492 126-130 28. y-Pittsburgh Steelers .492 126-130 29. y-Jacksonville Jaguars .465 119-137 30. y-Seattle Seahawks .430 110-146 31. y-Denver Broncos .500 128-128 32. y-Indianapolis Colts .457 117-139 To those ****y Tampa Bay and Seattle fans, I'd start to worry if I were you. Seems your competition so far this year has been a little soft.

Just to nit pick back. It is understood that this "Proof is in the Pudding" is a generally accepted abbreviation of the saying. While it really makes no sense, it has been used in general practice for some time now.

Califan007 The Constipated
And Seattle has had the easiest road to the Playoffs... Yeah, Seahawk fans, you just keep hoping the Redskins win this weekend so that your team can play them first...
Mark The Homer
Here's a similar list according to Sagarin. His numbers seems to closely agree with this. This is interesting -- regarding strength of schedule in the entire NFL, who is ranked 32nd, 31st, 30th, and 29th, according to Sagarin? Panthers - 32nd Seahawks - 31st Buccaneers - 30th Bears - 29th Giants - 14th Redskins - 4th In fact, according to Sagarin, after awarding the Bucs 3.65 points for home field advantage, Redskins are still favored to win. http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/nflsend.htm
Goaldeje
Man, Seattle's strength of schedule is absurd. I guess I should say weakness of schedule. Still impressive to win 13 games, but man alive...
MartinC
Bet Denver are a little dissapointed with a best case scenario of the 22nd pick from the 1st round draft choice we sent them as part of the trade last year. Hopefully that ends up as the 32 pick!

Guest Gichin13
Seems like we are tied for second on strength of schedule and first on strength of victory, not sure how the other site ranks this: http://www.nfl.com/standings/conference

PCRoughrider
Again, you have to adjust the SOS, subtracting the team's victory's from their opponents losses and the team's losses from their opponent's victories. After you do that, the SOS for the playoff teams is (in descending order): y-Washington Redskins 0.550 y-Denver Broncos 0.521 y-New England Patriots 0.517 y-Pittsburgh Steelers 0.504 y-New York Giants 0.504 y-Cincinnati Bengals 0.488 y-Jacksonville Jaguars 0.479 y-Indianapolis Colts 0.479 y-Chicago Bears 0.467 y-Carolina Panthers 0.458 y-Tampa Bay Buccaneers 0.458 y-Seattle Seahawks 0.

SkinsFTW
Wow, it looks like our schedule was a lot tougher than the other playoff teams. Why does the NFC East have to be so tough whenever Gibbs is around? Imagine us having a run of the division like the Eagles have for the past 4-5 years. It's going to be so much harder to get a playoff bye in this division when Seattle has such an easy road. The Seahawks got the Titans/Texans/Jags. Lost to the Jags and got the Colts in Week16. On top of playing the Rams/Cards/49ers twice each. Now take the Colts out of their schedule since they didnt even play starters and you see that they had probably the weakest schedule ever. I mean, they couldn't get any luckier than they did. They also got the Cowboys/Falcons/Colts at home. The only 2 teams with a better than 6-10 record they played on the road, us and the Jaguars beat them and they lost last week to the Packers with subs in on the road. Too bad they have Home field advantage though.
number twenty-eight
The Bucs covertly tried to improve their SOS by losing to the Niners and Jets, a pair of 3- and 4-win juggernauts.
Raub
The Bucs covertly tried to improve their SOS by losing to the Niners and Jets, a pair of 3- and 4-win juggernauts. LMAO. That's the funniest thing I've seen today. Thanks. Seattle playing in the NFC Division III certainly gave them an edge. They had almost as many wins as the rest of the division combined. Farmer Ted
I'd kill for some pudding right now. I first read this thread right after I read the one about the eagles fans crapping on the guy's car in the parking lot. The last thing I wanted to do was think about eating pudding. Isifhan
Wait a minute...wait,wait...I know for a fact that we have had an easy schedule. Sally Jenkins said so earlier in the year. Clearly all of you are mistaken.

Saigrin calculates his SOS the right way, so this really is their strength of schedule. It's stunning that 4 of the 6 NFC playoff teams played the 4 easiest schedules in the NFL. I would be surprised if that's happened before.
