The clown that wrote the article asked the question "when is a man truly forgiven" in the context of wanting Tookie not to die. My point is that they are two different things. Forgiveness can only be given by the party that was wronged -- in this case, the murder victims and their families. If the state chooses to exercise leniency, that's a seperate question. The state can't forgive a murder -- it can choose not to prosecute, it can choose a variety of sentances, it can grant parole, but it can't forgive a murder. Is this a difficult concept for you?
