Doctor ToughLove
Notice you left out 2005 because everyone knows the Cowboys had the best draft. Only other team you could make an arguement for is the Bolts.Terrance Newman is working out just fine, thank you. He'll be a Pro-Bowler this year (unlike Springs, who he's bettter than) and for many years to come. Julius Jones has been good enough, considering we got an extra 1st in 2005(#20 M.Spears) for taking him instead of Jackson. I'd rather have Julius and Spears, instead of just having Jackson. The Joey Galloway trade, probably the worst trade in NFL history. Galloway's pretty good but 2 firsts. The 2005 draft picks are not included because they haven't done anything yet. At this point in the year I heard the same cowboy talk about Ekuban & Jones. Newman was a top-5 pick who scares no one. Springs already is a probowler, Newman is not. Give me a call when Newman makes his first one, I'll buy you a Bryon Leftwich Jersey with my social security check. Jones can't even stay on the field. He has yet to start over half a season. He hasn't even cracked 900 yards in a season yet. If you guys had been smart you would have traded that pick for Corey Dillon who has never missed more than 3 games a season & only missed 1100 yards once. I notice you only bring up this years draft because they are too new to have fallen on their face yet.
jtyler42
I wanted Merriman at #9...Make no mistake he is big enough to play DE in the NFL he would be a monster for us right now...
DaRock
Mike Williams and Marlin Jackson.
cowboyuptx
Newman was a top-5 pick who scares no one. Springs already is a probowler, Newman is not. Give me a call when Newman makes his first one, I'll buy you a Bryon Leftwich Jersey with my social security check. This is only Newman's third year and he will make it this year. Springs is in his 9th year he's made 1 pro bowl, (8 years ago!) and he wont make it again. **** Leftwich! Let me know when he makes the probowl or wins a big game. I'm gald we didn't take that scrub!:applause:

SkinsTillIDie
As I felt at the time that Ramsey would be our quarterback for the future, and would be a damn good one at that, I wanted Mike Williams and a corner, possibly Fabien Washington at 25. I felt that Williams was essential and I was devestated when we drafted Rogers... and later Campbell. However, in hindsight, it just goes to show how much more the Redskin officials know about what is best for the team than the fans (well, at least this fan). Williams has been a bust, and apparently has a horrible work ethic. Rogers has shown great potential and will be a stellar cornerback for hopefully the next 7 years or so. And now that it is clear that Ramsey will not be our quarterback for the future, I am elated that we have a young stud learning from a wise ol' vet. It may very well turn out that we drafted the best cornerback and the best quarterback of the 2005 draft. And I couldn't have been more wrong. Buck812
I wanted MW....Whats sad is that at the end of last season we werent looking to bad. Then we couldnt keep our top free agents, we couldnt draft and we had to even go so far as to get a head start in screwing up next years draft. Sebowski
Merriman or Williams at 9, and Marlin Jackson or Roddy White (obviously not White if we took Williams) at 25. Was hoping for Canty, Henry, and Thorpe(who is the only one that has been a bust) late.
RIDETHEWALRUS
Top 5 players (as a cowboys fan) I didn't want the skins to draft.1 Shawn Merriman 2 Demarcus Ware 3 Mike Williams 4 Derrick Johnson 5 Matt Jones Personally, I couldn't be happier with your draft! Wow, I'm amazed that the first person to bring up Merriman's name is a cowpuke. I would have taken Shawn hands down (I am a UMD junkie though). Physically he is the most gifted DE/OLB that I can think of. I also favor taking hometown favorites when the a choice is up in the air. Mike Williams also looked like a good pick, but it is obvious that Gibbs wants nothing to do with possession recievers. Had Matt Jones slipped to us at 25 I would have snapped him up in a heartbeat, regardless of what Gibbs sees in Cambell. I mean 6'6" 240 lbs running a 4.37 40. That is freaking nuts. I also like Dominique Foxworth in the third to be our young CB. But I expected more out of Walt Harris and again i am a UMD junkie.
pR0JEkT 21
I wanted a better CB than Carlos Rogers in my opinion Antrel Rolle from the University of Miami in the first round with our 1st pick that guy is a beast, I figured he would play well and get along good with Sean Taylor since they played together already and went to the same school and in the first round as well with our 2nd pick I wanted to pick up DE/LB Shawn Merriman from the University of Maryland..cause he can play both positions, not mentioning that hes good friends with Lavar Arrington because he plays basketball with Lavars brother they would have good chemistry also now, he already has 7 sacks on the year as a rookie I knew he would be good,we dont even have anybody on our team who has more than 5 or 6 sacks all year. Guess Ill  now! Hail to the Redskins!
TheGreek1973
I think it would be fun to revisit draft day and honestly say who you would have drafted if you were the GM. Be honest and don't look at the players now and change your selections.... just indicate who you would have drafted at the time of the draft. Here is who I would have taken: 1 (9) WR Mike Williams 1 (25) TE Heath Miller 4 (120) DE Chris Canty 5 (154) DE Bill Swancutt 6 (183) OG Chris Kemoeatu 7 (222) ?? As you can see one of our most important positions is completely missing from this list in CB. I hate that this is the case but could not pass up other players available. I advocated taking Rogers in the 1st but that was based on MW being off the board. With MW there I would not have passed on him. Then I would have taken CB Fabian Washington at 25 but since Heath Miller dropped I could not justify passing him up either. My rationale was that with Williams and Miller, our anemic offense would get an immediate jolt and both players were as close to sure things that you can get. The DEs are self explanatory. The Chris Kemoeatu selection would be for OL depth and to push Dockery. In the 7th I cannot remember wanting one player over another. Obviously, I would have targeted a CB in free agency and I would not have cut Wilds. I am ok with all of them except Mike Williams. What have you seen from this guy in Detroit to think he will be anything but a goaline reciever in this league at best? Are you kidding me? This guy has bust written all over him. Honestly I just never like us taking WRs in the first round. The busts we have had a plenty. Rogers was a must even if we had Smoot because the kid can tackle very well and we are "old" in that position. Detroit has drafted great receivers (minues MW IMO) in the past 3 drafts and where has that gotten them? No where. In the top 10 you always look for D impact players, QBs, RBs or a great OT IMO, not WRs. Just wanted to add here also to fact that not taking Chris Canty in the 4th could turn out to be the biggest blunder this team has ever made in the draft. All in all my favorite player in the entire draft was Matt Jones. I was devastated when the Jaguars picked him because I had a feeling Gibbs would have picked him. After the draft a couple of Redskins insiders said that if Matt Jones was there at 25 if would have been very very tough decision between him and Campbell. if that was the case why didn't we get Heith Miller. Can you imagine Heith dropping passes like Royal did in NY and against SD? No way I say we win at least the SD game because of him.
cmiles3006
So they could've had Champ 27 Smoot 25 Tatum Bell vs. Portis and Springs. And that would have been a good thing? Champ Bailey was out for himself and Fred Smoot ... well he's shown what he is in Minnesota.
TheMalcolmConnection
Still would have taken Rogers first and possibly Heath Miller second.
Dead Money
I was happay with the Rogers pick BUT wish we just held onto the other picks and used them wisely. I trust Joe Gibbs on Cambell but I have a feeling hes gonna be on the bench again next year.
Nighthawk
Looking back I wanted them to take either a CB or a DE, with my choices being Rolle or Merriman. In the end I wanted Merriman. One, because he was a Terp and two because we needed a DE and I thought he would help our pass rush and solidify our LB corp. But as always, nobody consulted me and we took Rogers and traded for another first rounder and took Campbell. I did not want a WR and am glad we didn't take one and at least took a player that can help us but I still would have loved to have taken Merriman. DB44
Rogers was a good pick. Campbell? We'll see. I did not like this pick but time will tell. We still did not address the biggest weakness on the team...DE We still need a pass rusher!
JimmiJo
I would have traded ALL of our picks for the 3 DEs and 1 hybrid DE/LB that Dallas got.
