redman
This article has something in it for every fan of our coach, three times removed. The "what we do works" quote: "The system is proven over a long period of time," Turner said. The non-acceptance of blame quote: "I'd like to think somewhere down the road that I would get another opportunity," he said. "I think we did a good job in Washington under some really unusual circumstances, but right now I'm just going to concentrate on making sure that I give this group everything I can give them." And the ringing endorsement showing that he still has a lot of people snowed about him: "Norv's track record shows that we're going to score a lot of touchdowns and win a lot of games because of his offense," Wannstedt said. Hmmmmmm, Gardener for Norv . . . I like the trade.
laurent
What a putz. Yeah some really unusual circumstances... An owner that gave the headcoach all the tools necessary to compete, how burdensome that must have been.
TennesseeCarl
Other than in '72, I've never really disliked the Dolphins, but I'll be watching for their losses to read Norv's quotes. He abandoned the running game with Stephen Davis, he abandoned the running game with Ladanian Tomlinson, so what's he gonna do with Rickey? I'll bet if they just execute better.... Sarge
All the sports writers in Miami have to done is look in the Washington Post archives from 2000 back to 93 and use those excuses......er, uh.........quotes. JimboDaMan
In fairness to Norv, it really was difficult circumstances for him. The owner never liked him and made no attempt to hide that fact. Now, it seems that Snyder was quite perceptive in his assessment of Norv, and in no way were the 'unusual circumstances' to blame for Norv's failures. But it couldn't have been easy for him to cope with.
Montilar
In fairness to Norv, it really was difficult circumstances for him. The owner never liked him and made no attempt to hide that fact. Which owner? JKC sr. loved him. JKC jr. loved him and gave him whatever he wanted. he was given an extension by them on his contract even though he had done NOTHING. Sure he wasn't snyder's man. but by the time Snyder took over, many fans had also given up on him. All snyder said was, "Produce or you are gone." he produced his first year; Snyder kept his promise. he didn't after that, he was gone.
