Does anyone know who was mainly responsible for the Sellers re-signing in 2004?

I mean, obviously, Gibbs was and is our Team President and he gives the greenlight on signings. But who actually had the idea to call him in again? Cerrato? Scott Campbell? There must have been at least a small debate over bringing him in considering his past and how Gibbs likes high character guys. Clearly, there had to have been reservations and someone had to stick up for him I would think.

Sellers signed during the period after Spurrier resigned and Gibbs was re-hired. I guess you could say that the coaching staff at the time was a conglomerate of Dennis Green, Jim Fassel and Ray Rhodes.

I'd guess that Ceratto was the decision maker on that move.

Really? Do have a source for that or are you going off memory? Not that I don't believe you, I just don't remember that.

I remember that as well. - He was signed as a FA definately before Gibbs re-hire was announced and I beleive even prior to Spurrier resigning. - If you remember we were very desperate for a blocking TE/FB's and he was avaiable because he played in Canada that year.

....so in other words, Vinny.

Actually, Sellers was signed back onto the team in February 2004. Joe was signed on January 7 or 8 2004. I know the night for sure when the rumor broke, trust me, more than Joe signing happening that night. He was announced the following day. So Sellers is technically Joe's signing but pretty sure there were others with input.

Aha. Links. Edit. More links. :)
