MikeB
This quote is so telling, and doesn't it sound so hauntingly familiar... "We gave up 100 yards on two passes, we gave up 11 fouls before the ball was snapped,'' Schottenheimer said. "That's unacceptable. We're looking at 55 yards of field position. That's very disappointing to me and we're going to fix it.'' Here's the whole read... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=220810024

OrangeSkin
haha, yeah right Marty...right after your meeting to "clear the air." We'll have to wait till the Chargers are 0-5 for that to happen, however. Maybe your players suck because they hate your guts?
Sarge
Better them than us! Good to know Marty hasn't changed a bit :gus:
MikeB
Exactly... we are seeing the trends already. Players not mentally into the game because of his overbearing style. And like the good general, he's "going to fix it." Sure.
Larry Brown #43
 How many times did Marty use "field position" as a reason for our losses last year? And how many times did we kill ourselves with offsides and stupid penalties last year? He still sounds like a friggin' broken record. We hired Marty to run a tight ship and eliminate those mistakes. What a joke. It still pisses me off. :gus:

What a joke. It still pisses me off. Frankly, when you play Martyball and are trying to win games 13-10, it is possible to lose games because of field position. Here's to hoping that we won't give a good goddamn about field position when we're killing people to the tune of 38-7.
Awesome
Marty must have said 'We're gonna fix it' about a million times last year. Hey Marty, did it ever once cross your mind that YOU might be the problem that needs fixing??? MORON
Henry
While I agree that Martyball seems like just a bad dream nowadays, I DO think we'd be pretty good this year had he stayed. He'd have gotten us to 10-6 or 11-5 this year. He's a good enough coach. Of course we'd probably have gotten crushed in the first round of the playoffs. So the hell with him. The Sisko
Something else that might sound very familiar...... tight end Stephen Alexander....didn't play because of injuries. I feel sorry for the Bolts. Looks like another top 5 draft pick and another fired coach. I just hope they don't go looking for another one of our re-treads (Marv Lewis). TennesseeCarl
Marty hasn't won 160 NFL games being stupid or a fool of a coach. He took over a team here that had become the Club Med of the NFL with jewelry salesmen and personal tailors running around the locker room. It's hard to love Marty's joyless style of football (even more so in contrast to the promise of Spurrier Ball), but San Diego will become a better team. NavyDave
Frankly A lot of marty's wins were pre free agency. So players couldnt bolt Then we all got to see his team and himself breakdown after the Broncos fiasco.
