Tell you what SkinnedGator, you being as new to the board as you are a Redskins fan, since S.S. was hired, I'll give you that little rant. Just the one mulligan. No, i'm not a mod. Just another poster with some advice.

Recently, there have been many Gator fans joining the board, new members I'm sure are always welcome, giving us their perspective on S.S. and some of his players. We've enjou=yed and welcomed some of this insight inot our new headcoach and players. Sometimes, fairly large debates have ensued. Understand that most of the ex-Gators on the team, have done squat in the NFL. For whatever reason, they just haven't. Before you start, we've heard them all.

Most of the Redskins fans here have been fans for quite some time, not just this year. Do not, under any circumstances come here and expect us to immediatley embrace any player, including ex-Gators, with their obvious NFL shortcomings. Especially just because yousay so. Oh, we'll hope for the best. Hey. Under S.S.'s system..maybe they can.......Hell, S.S. got it out of them in college maybe...... something like that. some of this is because of input from a few Gator/Redskins fans...present company excluded.

Alot of us have, and with pleasure I might add, eaten some helpings of crow. I've done so and would love to continue to do so. But to come on and try to rub our noses in it, which has been done before as well, is really bad form. Give it a rest. I could really have fun with that last post Skinned, which would be an apt name should I have chosen to do so,(that was quite the tantrum), but follow my lead, let it go. 2 preseason games have given us all more than enough optimism, but the season hasn't started yet. let's wait, hope, and see what happens.

Park...this thing about rubbing peoples nose in it apparently refers to someone else. I haven't done anything of the kind. Go back and look at my original post...pretty harmless really...then check out the obnoxious replies and yes I got out of control slapping back. For that I apologize.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by this team, this coach and dare I say it, some of those ex-gators. At any rate, I really enjoy Spurrier a great deal. I've come to love his style of play although it is quite different from the traditional. Ex-gators or not, this will be great fun...my allegiance lies with the coach and his scheme, not the players.

How about we all play nice, we're on the same side you know?

Right or wrong, putting up stats for the ex-gators was percieved, I'm sure, as rubbing our noses in it, among other things. Yes, there was a young man who kind of spoiled the gator party here rather nicely for some of you guys not too long ago. Doesn't help to tell us we lost and are grouchy. Know what I'm saying? K. water under the bridge as they say. Let's belly up to the bar and toast to the S.S. era Skins, several times to make sure we get it right of course.

You got it Park...I'm with you.

By the way, if you look hard enough you'll find one of my earlier posts where I admonished AmsterDam Gator for his obnoxious behavior...shortly thereafter a pile of others made their feelings known and as far as I can tell, he's taken a hiatus.

Oh, one more thing...I've always been delighted when a player I expected to be worthless turns out to be productive. if he stars...what a gift!

To throw my two cents into the mix:

What we Gators are looking for is a validation of Spurrier (in the pros) and his former UF players in the NFL who have been continuously ridiculed, and in our opinion unreasonably so for several years.

But, we sure don't need that validation from Gator fans who already know the truth.

In my opinion, the greatest satisfaction is when other people come to that conclusion without us pointing out the obvious.

My favorite posts are from Redskin fans that are enjoying Spurrier, Danny Wuerfful, and company as much as we have in the past. I personally have always felt Danny Wuerfful never got a fair shake with other teams and am pulling for him to have the same success he had at Florida.

I personally will not be the one to say I told you so when he does. Well, at least not to you Redskins, who are now pulling for him to succeed as much as we are.

To you Redskins: Thanks for the great posts. I enjoy reading them tremendously and your enthusiasm is extremely contagious.

I'll ask it again. What is the problem with my fellow Redskins fans?

Why so much hate toward Gator Fans?

So what if they want to tout the best of the GatorSkins on our team? How's that any different from any of the other posts from people who have favorite players on this team and want to pump them up?

Just because they're former Gators doesn't make them any less Redskins.

If you don't like reading about the Gators on this team then don't read the threads posted by Gator fans.

Just move on, but leave the negativity for the Cowboys, Eagles, Bucs, Giants and any and all Redskin hating fans that come in here.

Yessh!

I don't resent all these new "Gatorskin" fans, although most (not all) don't strike me as fans of the Washington Redskins per se. That can be a little annoying only because it seems like no one ever refers to Spurrier or DW or any of the other former gators as "Redskins". Personally I loathe the term Gatorskins. Its like the squad is split in two, former gators and everyone else. To Redskin fans all the players are the same, they are all Redskins.

It's that a lot of them don't even care about the Redskins. Everybody here has their loyalties to certain players, but if that player gets beat out for a certain position we are not going to abandon the team.

And if SS fails and leaves town after 2 years (which I hope to God he doesn't), we will still be Redskins fans. But they will be fans of the next team that SS goes to.

That said, I like Gator/Skins fans who are truly 'Skins fans and won't jump ship if Steve flops and if the gator players can't cut it.

OrangeSkin,

You have some conflicting comments.

You say the problem are those fans who are Gator fans who's loyalties are to ex-Gators over all Redskins. I understand that.

But then you suggest that those of us who are Gators first and Skins second (yes, I am a Skin fan because of SOS), will jump ship if former Gators flounder.

So which is it? Are we at fault for our undying devotion to former Gators or are we at fault because we'll flee from former Gators if they don't do well?

Hear, hear! Eloquently put, Yomar. The term "Gatorskins" will NOT come from any post of mine.

You guys must try to forgive our chest-thumping. We are absolutely giddy that DW has a chance to shine in the NFL. It is not the 'Skin fans whom we wish to eat blackened crow, it is all those "experts" out there (Street and Smith, ESPN, Sporting News, SI) who say that Ramsey will have to start on Game One because Spurrier has nothing else. :gus: All of us who saw DW with a real team know differently, and we just got so sick of people who do not understand the Fun n' Gun tell us that DW does not have what it takes to win.

We know that any success SOS and the former Gators have will benefit THEIR team -- the Washington Redskins! NOT the Florida Gators or the Washington Gatorskins, but the REDSKINS!

"Hail to the REDSKINS!!!"
