Sarge
Didn't catch a lot of the game. Who has a job next week, and who is the Turk gonna visit?
thito_da_skins_fan
looked GOOD: D. Gardener, R. Bauman, R. Anthony, D. Thompson looked BAD: R. Israel, S. Rosenfels (not bad, but not great), offensive line, our rushing...
Golgo-13
Chris Doering has some incredible hands. He had a beautiful one-handed catch. I think he'll make the squad. Rod Gardner also had a nice grab in the first half. He looks more and more like a true possession reciever.
Montilar
#30 db mark? GONE Ron isreal Bad Sage didn't look bad. He just wasn't as efficient as mathews or Wefeel. Given a full year in the O, maybe it'd be a different story... Mathews made some mistakes even thow he looked okay. Like the INT into double coverage and underthrown to boot. Betts, Rock, and Bryan Johnson, good. Except Rock and Gillespie need to learn how to pick up blitzes. #$^%^ "ole" blocks are going to get a QB killed. Derrius, excellent along with Doering. R. anthony, not bad today at all. Royals (45) had one catch but what a catch and run. Set up the tieing score. OL (failure) due to inability to run. something HAS to be done about that. And due to pitiful depth. Reggie Coleman (replaced Samuels) reminded me of Kipp Vickers at LT in the Tampa playoff game.... Ol was holding all game and only got called 3 or 4 times. Sailor
Sarge - I'd rather post on who's up and who's down. UP Chris Doering - we should nickname this guy Scoop. He catches everything. Anybody who thinks he is on the bubble must be watching a different game. Danny Wuerffel - has to be in the lead for starting QB. I want everyone who said anything bad about DW to come forward and confess so penance can be assigned. Bryan Johnson - everyone who cried about Larry Centers being cut must come forward and confess and accept their penance as well. Reidel Anthony - he had dipped below the radar scope. Did enough to get back on. Kenny Watson - see Reidel above. Daryl Gardner - a beast. He and Big Daddy will be what BD and Stubby should have been. Derrius Thompson - I know this is sacrilege, but I would start him ahead of Rod Gardner. Kevin Lockett - see Thompson above. I would start him ahead of J Green. Robert Royal - does anyone miss Stephen Alexander????? ZF should feel someone breathing down his neck. DOWN Robert Gillespie - the man is a wuss on blocking. Justin Skaggs - just doesn't show up Emmitt Johnson - was he even in the games? Andre Lott - man, if you want to be a safety for the Skins, do not let a rookie QB run over you for a score!!! Shane Matthews - you said the job was yours to lose. That's not what I saw. You're in the race but you ain't got the pole position... Sage Rosenfels - yeah, I like him too. How can you not like a guy who looks like Opie? And he plays OK. But with Danny, Shane and Patrick it's hard to figure out where he fits in. Mark Washington - fell down and let Carolina score with a bomb. Reggie Coleman/Melvin Paige - find another team to cheer for if one of these guys has to sub for Samuels. Marty Schottenheimer - what the #!%@# was he doing on offense last year? SOS has scored more in two games than MS did in all preseason. Too bad he got the SD gig. If I were Snyder I'd want to bring him back just so I could fire him again :high:

smith22
I only saw the 1st half, but here it goes: I think the Skins starting OL again had serious trouble run blocking. Most of the WR's looked pretty good, except for the fumble, I think that was Lockett, and the dropped TD (Green). Matthews looked OK, that INT was pretty bad though. The Skins starting defense looked pretty good while they were in there.
NavyDave
Good Bauman, Royal, L Jackson. Down Matthews to me seems to take just as much time with his decision making as the Spiceman who just started this year in the system. ??? Flemister. Is he better off playing on the second team to showcase his skillz?
Awesome
I thought everone looked solid except for the interior O-line, and they looked like poop. Definitely were holding every play Robert Gillespie didn't look as good as he did last week, and kenny watson looked solid. Scaggs is gone, the guy just disappears in games #94 Ledarius Jackson will be a great surprise this eyar, Sonny sure likes him It was so nie to hear George Michael and Sonny really fired up about the Skins again. Last year must have been just as painful for them as it was for us. Though Irving Fryar was solid on the commentary, he's pretty ****y though
Awesome
Oh yeah, Deshon Foster looked like a beast, steamrolled and stiffarmed his way to a great debut. I was sure that Darrell had him down the sideline, but Foster made him look like a chump, which is just wrong
laurent
I'm not going to waste my time writing about the players that aren't going to make it since everybody else pretty mentioned them already. For the second consecutive game I came away impressed with Robert Royal. He seems to have a knack to get open and once he catches the ball he is tough to bring down. I loved how he caught the ball, faked one of the defenders out of his shoes and then carried two defenders for about 5 more yards. Pretty darn impressive. Flem better watch out or he might be an early victim. As for one poster suggesting to bench Rod Gardner, puhleeese. He was in for what, two offensive series? He showed exactly what he was drafted for. The ability to get open, nice hands and enough strength to shed a defender or two. Regarding Thompson I have to agree with the overall sentiment though. The guy is fearless over the middle and made some nice catches. Looking back I'm sort of glad we lost Cliff Russel. We seem to have an abundance of great wide receivers who appear to grasp what the coach is asking them to do. Also, my hat's off to Doering. Simply put the guy's a ball player. He's not the fastest guy, but he will get seperation. That one handed catch was out of this world. WOW. I was a little bit disappointed with McCants. I know the ball thrown to him in the endzone wasn't right on the money, but if he keeps his feet down and tries to catch the ball with his hands he's got a sure touchdown. Thompson had 5 catches for 73 yards. Gaffney had just 1 measly catch for 11 yards. Is everyone happy with our receiver's now! It is time for some R-E-S-P-E-C-T. riggins44
Any truth to Matthews looked good on short throws, but lacked zip on long ones? I read where he has mastered the West Coast offense.
#57goddawgit
I'm sure I'll catch alot H-E-Double Hockey Sticks for this one, but what the hell... IMHO the offensive line did fine with the first stringers in there. They lacked the "push", but they didn't get blown off the ball. The defense made little penetration. I thought "Big Country" Davis looked tenative. He just didn't appear to have any burst. Don't let this concern you too much though. I'm sure SD will look better in the coming weeks. From the camp reports we've heard they have not practiced very much on the running game. Maybe SD just needs to knock off the rust...
laurent
I was fortunate enough to get the locals (Juergensen, Michaels, Fryar, Bostic) to cover the game. Bostic made a number of interesting observations regarding the offensive line play. What he basically said is that the linemen were doing a lot of catching. He explained catching as waiting to pick up the defender rather than aggressively executing the blocking schemes. This might work out in situations where you have to form a pocket and protect the QB but if you want to establish the run you need to get a push. Unfortunately the offensive line never quite showed that they could generate that push and Stephen Davis rushing stats showed it. The other thing I noticed was that the Redskins were trying to run their rushing plays with only 5 down linemen. Since no TE's were lined up the linebackers coming from the edge were able to go untouched and pursue Stephen Davis from the backfield.
