It's funny to read people's posts who think they know what they're talking about..

James Thrash mad 2 mistakes yesterday.

1. The Muffed punt

2. The Fair catch that he had room on

Can you blame him? I'm sure before that punt someone told him "PROTECT THE BALL". I'm sure that's why he did it.

There are 10 other guys on ST that be attributed to it's lack of production.. So you guys single out Thrash.. Nice.. Thrash is at worst servicable in the position, but most of the time he is reliable and solid.. His job is to protect the ball plain and simple that is what Gibbs wants.. Gibbs is happy with the additional field position but protecting the ball is priority one.. That's why you will continue to see Thrash back there because he's had one bad muffed punt return. And like the typical bullsh#t fans some of you are, you turned your back on him.

Getting really friggen fed up with you fickle fans. The man has given us years of service and with one play he's a bum.. Man some of you just plain suck.

Thank you! Well said. Thrash made the one mistake yesterday but I feel confident that he usually won't turn it over. Antonio Brown had 4.2 speed but wasn't very bright. I can't believe people on here are knocking Thrash.

I swear you'd think some people watch 1 game and then find Extremeskins to blather on about. Bench Thrash, bench Harris. Give me a break.

Thrash is an experienced special teams player, and knows what he's doing. Compared to most returners, he makes very smart decisions and RARELY mishandles a punt. He is not the best in the league, but he is the best overall suited for punt returns on our team.

Antonio Brown?? Please - the guy can't catch a cold. There's a reason why he's still a free agent.

Completely agree

I think the starter of this thread had to be meaning Walt Harris. He's had 2 straight terrible games. Its 1 thing to give up a catch but the YAC's are killing me. This guy can't break down. McNabb gave him a half hearted move and he was shook. I like damn Harris. :eaglesuck

I think Walt Harris should be back there. He has the ability to miss the other team.

Oh my god this is hilarious. I love finding gems like this in stupid threads.

Noone wants Moss back there. We're going to need every single one of his 1800 receiving yards, and Thrash has been a fine punt returner for a long time. He made two mistakes in a big game last night, but you can be sure that's not the Thrash we're used to. Are there better punt returners? Probably. Moss is probably better. But it's not worth the risk to put him back there and risk a deion-turf toe.

I think we shouldn't expect anything out of the return game this year due to the fact we don't really have a return man. The reason Morton was cut was they thought Antonio Brown was going to be the man for them (remember last year he did a good job of masking his fumbalitus and granite hands) With A. Brown gone the job just fell to Thrash and Betts with their job being simply to protect the ball. In his prime Thrash could return kicks well, but at this point in his career he just doesn't have the speed so he fair catches a lot. As long as he isn't putting it on the ground I'll be happy.

Not to take away from a great win last night however I think we have some issues with our punt returning.

[rant]James Thrash is a HUGE weakness. Man this season he has just been a disappointment. It seems like he either 1) Always fair catches it inside the 10 or 2) lets it go and the other team downs it inside the 10. He just has NO quickness and that one play where he calls off the defenders to stay away and then picks it up and fumbles. We were VERY fortunate to have Prileau recover. Another one comes to mind where he had at least 15 yards to run on our 40 and fair catches. I dont care if you gotta put Moss back there, just do something to get rid of Thrash. He is slowly starting to make me hate him. I was yelling at the TV screen everytime the Eagles punted [/rant]

I was saying the exact same thing to my friend last night. He is killing our Special Teams return game. He is good at covering punts, but returning them is a whole other adventure for him.

Neither the punt returns nor kick returns have stimulated much excitement this year however, it is not always the fault of the returner himself. Someone's got to block. As far as the fair catches, I don't think that is always the decision of the return man. Inside the ten, he is instructed to fair catch rather than let it roll to the 1 or 2 yard line and usually another player is yelling instructions to him if the coverage is on top of him. We also have had our share of poor field position. No doubt the Skins could use a return specialist. Had the Chad Morton move worked out we would have one. Had Antonio Brown worked out we would have one. Neither did; more Redskin bad luck personnel wise. Right now, I'm not sure we have room on the roster with all the injuries but I'll bet someone is looking around. I think Thrash and Betts are about the best we have right now. I have more than a little concerned about special teams overall. Our coverage teams have been outstanding but kickoffs and punts are inconsistent at best. We definately need special teams upgrades.

His call for a fair catch in the 3rd(?) quarter was just disappointing. Worst case scenario he would have run for 5 yards. Not a single Eagle was within 8-10 yards when he caught the ball. I was watching from low down on the 35 yard line. Someone needs to put Santana back there at least until they can sort Thrash out.

I don't think just because a few peoples opinion differs from yours means that they don't know what they are talking about Gothtimus. After all...it is just their opinion. I could be mistaken, but I also don't remember anyone calling Thrash a bum. I think the jist of the subject is that he just poses no threat of ever actually returning the football to the house...ever.
