Art
From the WT: Late switch Coach Steve Spurrier is so competitive that it sometimes gets in the way of practice, defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis explained with a laugh. Recently Lewis didn't like his defense on a particular play. So he asked Spurrier to run the same play. When Spurrier saw the defensive alignment, he forgot Lewis' instructions and audibled to a play that would beat the scheme.

redman
He changed the play, coach, he changed the play! That's unfair! No wait, that's the Cowboys.
W&M
Of course, Smooty won't let Spurrier run away with the title for being ****y, humours, and painfully direct/honest. Did you catch the quote from Smoot about Ramsey .... basically saying, Ramsey needs some practice, but "you can't teach talent, and the kid is a definite talent". Those kind of words make me forget all about that a$$ Sexton.
Awesome
Originally posted by THiTo48  i'm having more fun in the preseason this year than all of last year combined... Absolutely!! Last year was a nightmare that started bad, got worse, then offered a few promising morsels, but ended up kicking us all in the balls by the end. I think I remember feeling as though I had been kicked in the balls during the Bears game when we had a first down on the 3 yard line and Jimmy Raye called three straight passes instead of giving Davis a chance to punch it in. Just thinking about it makes me want to take a knee and throw up:puke:

fish
mphilips16, Dude, I've only been to 3 games EVER. The first was against the Saints when Dexter spit on Dombrowski. The second was the final game of the season, Christmas eve, against the Panthers. Both WINS! The 3rd game was last year's Bear's game. I was sitting right in front of Urlacher (sp) as he made it into the endzone! Believe me, I totally understand the :puke: feeling about that game! Romo
That is just too funny. I think having SS running the offence will just make our defence all that much better from having to face him everyday in practice.
Art
Sorry Shawn. This is not what Dallas players were making fun of Coslet over and that I've commented on. When Coslet called a bomb during running drill practice, Zimmer didn't get upset because he had corners on the field and they should have been prepared. Here it seems Lewis asked Spurrier to run a particular play and Spurrier went to another that would work against the defense he saw. The defense had personnel on the field to cover the receivers. It was also a single play we're talking about with Lewis laughing about it, unlike reports out of Dallas where the practice of hiding offensive personnel groupings so Quincy could throw to wide receivers covered by linebackers which was habititual and negatively commented on by your coach and your defensive personnel. No one is going to be overly critical about the odd play here and there that Coslet or Spurrier pulls out that confuses the defense because it was practicing a running play, or expecting another offensive play. That's good coaching on both parts. It teaches the defense NEVER to totally expect something. Kudos to Coslet for that. Less to Spurrier, but, it's still funny. Unfortunately you guys have needed an ongoing practice policy that unbalanced the performance of your offense versus your defense and now seems to be balancing back up. Carlito Sway
Someone email this link to Mariucci and other haters out there. Win for the sake of winning. Guy just doesn't know how to lie down. Absolutely incorrigable - love it!
OrangeSkin
I was at that game too, fish. I had club level seats, behind the endzone. When Urlacher ran it in, I felt like jumping down to the lower bowl but decided not to, just in case we came back. Jimmy Raye is a moron. Where is he now? fish
I remember #28's reaction to Urlacher's fake FG, it went sometrhing like this: 'I've been in the league 19 tears and I have NEVER EVER seen anybody go in motion for a FG! Somebody should have figured THAT out!!!' Probably the ONLY time I ever heard DG complain about a teammate. That play was the end of the dream for last year.
