JWB
Has he even played a full season since he left? He is like the grant hill of football. I am pretty sure he was cut by Marty(maybe spurrier...) because of the cap.

Voice of Reason
You're lack of Redskins' knowledge is embarrassing. Stephen Davis was released after Spurrier's first season. He was replaced by Trung Canidate.

cscmtp
i can still remember S.Davis' breakout year. IIRC, he had 3 TDs against the Giants. I love Portis, but still have a lot of love for Davis too.
carlsbadd
The truth is that we wanted to keep Davis. We asked him to sign a new deal because his salary cap hit was 10 million dollars. Davis and his agent refused, we had to release him. Davis then claimed that he wasn't treated fairly and that was just BS. He is a very good back , just lost a couple of steps. He holds the Redskins single season runshing record and I believe he holds Carolina's as well. Carolina would have never made thier superbowl run with out him but he did get injured on a long run where nobody touched him. Foster finished the season and davis was good to go for the super bowl. TOM

Billy Bullocks
what if we had davis and porits right now damn sick combo knaw mean? No, you'd have Bailey and Davis. And youd have the power running game that Gibbs loves so much...

ArmchairRedskin
Davis is a good back, but for some reason he fumbled for us at the most inopportune times. I bet there'd be a million threads harping on his turnovers and calling for his head.
TheCannibalCow
We don't need Davis, I want to see what Broughton looks like. He was descent in college and besides whenever I see Cartwright carry the ball I close my eyes and wait for the fumble.
Leonard Washington
Davis is a good back, but for some reason he fumbled for us at the most inopportune times. very true. it was just that smile on his face after he did it, that really burned me up. betsy thurman
i enjoyed seeing Stephen run when with us -- however i think he left when he should have -- i too want to see Nemo -- Cartwright has potential but makes me think of George Rogers :2cents:

I bet there'd be a million threads harping on his turnovers and calling for his head. There was that problem and I think we will never forgive him for it. However, there was a game against Tenn when Ramsey was a rook that Davis was huge for us. I remember Davis hurt his knee early and came back in the game and really helped Ramsey to calm down and was tearing things up. That helped Ramsey get settled and put a spark in our passing game also. We ended up winning that day and the love affair with Ramsey began. Davis had a big part in it. :applause:

Yes, the same guy who led us to the 31st ranked offense and a 6-10 record last year made a mistake. The running schemes he has chosen to incorporate into the offense fit those of a power runner, which Portis is not. That's hardly debatable. skinsmania123
I always thought one of the worst decisions, but not THE worst was letting Stephen Davis go. In fact I was baffled by that. I guarantee Gibb's would not have let him go.
TK
No, you'd have Bailey and Davis. Wrong. Roland wasn't going to stay. He didn't want to be here.
Neerajk4
i think we released stephen davis during spurriers first year to make room for coles. It was a decent trade. I don't know how you can say he was bad, as his first year panthers went to the superbowl, and it wasn't cause of smith and delholme, although they are good players also. No. He was released after his first year. And it was not a trade.
