Tom [Giants fan]
With the Eagles ineptitude running the football making them one dimensional, I feel this plays right into the hands of the Redskins defense. If the Eagles cannot run the ball here, the Redskins will be able to blitz or lay back and cause turnovers. I think they will mix up both strategies. McNabb doesn't look like the same QB from the past several years. He has his moments but he looks like he can be rattled a bit easier than I remember. The Skins need to cover Westbrook on passing plays. That is where he can hurt them. And Owens needs to be double teamed as I don't think Philly has anyone else who can hurt the Skins. The Eagle defense has looked very vulnerable with the exception of the SD game. Brunell needs to make smart decisions. Portis could be a big factor in this game but it seems like the Redskins either don't know how to use them or he doesn't fit their scheme. I know you guys probably knew all of this but I am pulling very hard for the Redskins to win. There are two reasons for this: 1. I just cannot stand the Eagles and the lower they fall, the better I feel. 2. I am part of a bet where the fans of each team in the NFC East took their team and we put a hundred dollars each in. The guys team who wins the division takes away the 400 buck. This bet was initiated before the season by a ****y Eagles fan who thought this bet was a lock. If the Giants can't win the East, I certainly don't want the Eagles winning it. I want this guy to have to send someone a check. I like your breakdown, Tom, but what about the other side of it? Your team just whooped ours. What makes you think we won't lay another egg? I don't think we will, but I am a bit partial. Dalecitymike
TQC84 Today, 01:51 AM Post #1 Practice Squad Group: Members Posts: 176 Joined: 2-January 05 Member No.: 68497 Les Bowen talked about this in his latest article and I wonder what everybody else thinks because I happen to agree with him. Fraley and Hicks are being dominated up the middle and I question whether either one of these two should be starting in this league. We all like Hank but isnt he a weak link? In the Superbowl the Pats rushed right up the middle at will and a lot of other teams are taking the same approach. A quaterback who gets heavy pressure from the middle of the field is virtually helpless. I think this is a real problem. I would like to see what Clarke can do and I would also like to see the team draft Fraley's replacement pronto or perhaps groom one of their recent picks to take over at the center position. This was in the Eagles blog, but it's true the Eagles O-line is playing almost as bad as ours. If Griffin is healthy he will get a sack or two. If LaVar plays I expect him to get a sack or cause McNabb to throw an Int. As far as the Eagles running game don't be fooled by the stats. Reid just hasn't had a desire to run with Westbrook. It doesn't mean he can't. I expect that the Eagles will run a lot more in this game then in the previous games this season.
PREDICTOR
Wow! You say that Brunell needs to make smart decisions? He needs to not throw interceptions or fumble the football? Now there's a thought. Unfortunately, that is EXACTLY what Brunell does every game. He did it last year and he is doing it THIS year. I have no idea why. I just know what he is doing....and he is turning the ball over every game and it only takes 1 early turnover to set the tone of the game. Like the fumble in Denveras we were driving...suddenly DENVER TOUCHDOWN! Momentum changed and the game was lost with that Mark Brunell fumble. If he turns the ball over this weekend the Redskins will lose. Case closed. If he turns it over, he should be replaced by Ramsey. Case closed. He has thrown 3 picks in 7 games...you can't ask for much more than that. As far as fumbles, only one of them has really been his fault, and that was on the scramble against the Chiefs. I've never really liked you too much, you seem like the worst skins fan ever, always bashing them for any reason you can think of. The last few fumbles haven't been Brunells fault, it wasn't like he just dropped the balls, they were good hits. Also, how many consecutive completions did he have before he threw an interception? I can't remember exactly but I think it was like 180 something, that's pretty darn good. Don't blame the turnovers on him.
budski
Tom I would like nothing better than Philly and Dallas battling for the last spot in the East. I agree that Reid will turn to the run this weekend, but Williams will shore that up this week. Skins got 52 pissed off guys

thewagen
He has thrown 3 picks in 7 games...you can't ask for much more than that. As far as fumbles, only one of them has really been his fault, and that was on the scramble against the Chiefs. Ramsey only gets time in games if they are out of reach or Brunell gets hurt bad. His stats are for negotiating trade value NEXT YEAR. IMHO, we'll see Ramsey as a starter next year somewhere else...take your pick: Houston, Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit. Miami, Jets (if Chad is gone), NO (if they give up on Brooks)..there's lots of chances for him to get a second chance, and he will. Brunell has been very good so far this year, and only this last game where he looked his age, performance-wise. The accuracy & zip on the ball was not there, and it even looked like a struggle on his mobility. I'll credit the GiNats for all of this. The season is long, and I do expect it to wear on Brunell, that's why I was hoping the running game would get going.. But the OLine is hurting and Portis gets all of four carries....DAMMIT! skinsmania123
Actually I say the Denver-Philadelphia game and Reid did start going to the run and Westbook was moving the chains. Problem is they got within striking distance, but the Bronco's scored and the next thing you knew the Eagles were back to passing. I suspect this is going to be a tough game because both teams were embarrassed. If there is one edge on the Skins side it is because we are playing at home AND Joe Gibb's motivating skills, and ability to make adjustments. I have question marks about Williams though. I think our "packages" and style are no longer a surprise to anyone that we play and we need a radical change. I am happy Holdman is sitting, and I would like to put Harris right next to him. If nothing else giving LaVar some games, especially this big one ( and they are all big from this point out ), will help a lot in terms of the confidence entrusted in him. I think he is going to lay McNabb out at least twice. I think the loss for the Skins was much more humiliating then the Eagles loss in Denver and that could be another edge for us. I still think the game at the Giant's was just plain weird. I am sure Tom, as a Giant's fan, you certainly did not expect the Skins to play so piss poor? It was just plain weird.
