truskinsfan18
I keep hearing Brunell being critisized. Let me try to understand this from you guys...? IS offence about rythym? Yes it is. If you guys remember clearly, early in the game there were some drops. Brunell was looking fine out there, once escaping hte pocket to delivre a perfect throw between defenders to David Patten...which was dropped. No rythym could be developed. Now, the mark of a great offense is to be able to develop rythmym after a mistake or two, but all game it could not be done. Also, if you remember that our D was doing ok besides the big run early on( the big run only led to a field goal), but our O kept going 3 and out, leaving the momentum to the giants. All these factors contributed in a steady downhill battle for us, and it kept getting worse. If we convert some of those early first downs, and eastablish rythym, then the whole ball game would have beeen different, because onec we got behind our D wasn't tackling as well trying to strip the ball, and then it just looked ugly. But, back to the main point. Brunell didnt look bad to me, because if you rewatch the tape, NO ONE was getting open, and he was getting NO protectoin. He had NO time out there, oc umenyora or whatever was penetrating EVRY snap. your opinoins may differ, but I truly believe this loss can be put on the Oline and the D line, no one else( except maybe the coaches in gameplaning, but execution is also important because im sure the coaches didnt sit around all week) Our D line was getting crushed, and our Oline was also, causing tiki to get to the second level where he is dangerous. Dont blame our lb's, dont blame our secondary, because eli didnt have a big game. I truly believe we will seea differnt redskins team next week, and look forward to beating the eagles. JerseyGator
No one was getting open, at least not for long, because he was telegraphing his passes - as noted by the Giants radio crew.
truskinsfan18
What do you mean by telegraphing his passes, like locking in on one reciever?
sableholic
umm... it looked to me like he was checking through all the WR's and not staring them down. Nobody could get open because they were only rushing 4 and getting pressure. Plus there was a ton of dropped passes.
fmorris
I don't put all the blame on Brunell. As he mentioned the Giants had a very good scheme in place and the Redskins never over came this. In fact we were not able to adjust on either side of the ball. I'd say it was a colapse from the coaches on down. It's easy to look back in hindsight and say "Ahh, we should have done this or that." I still think if we could have gotten some sort of spark along the way things could have been very different. Momentums a funny thing. The best we can hope for is to get healthy and come out strong against the Eagles and put this behind us. I'm sure the Eagles are looking to do the same. rvan1
i think he played fine... only threw one pick under pressure.... receivers dropped balls, no protection...thats not MBs fault
truskinsfan18
^^^ thank you, but what is all this talk about Mark being injured like last year....?
joelvincent
I thought MB was about the only one trying out there. Even Moss had uncharacteristic drops and, of all things, a fumble. MB was moving, gunning, and getting a bunch of drops. When we get behind and had to throw constantly he never had a chance and we're lucky he didn't get hurt (protection was terrible!). jaderock
I think it was an all around team effort in the loss. Running game was non existent, i believe a total of 10 passes were dropped, and Brunell couldn't find anything deep. Giants were unstoppable last Sunday. I hope everyone gets back on the same page and rebounds as a TEAM and win this week - both the Redskins and Eagels need this game pretty bad. It's another TOUGH game ahead! Dalecitymike
Brunell needs time to throw, and the players need to run the routes and catch the easy to catch passes. It's not like their low or high, or behind them. When I watched the game most of them were right to them. They didn't even get thrown really hard. No Excuses a WR in the NFL should've caught them. Most of all Royal. Stop giving him chances in clutch plays he's open for a reason. He sucks!
