In 1985 the Redskins went into Chicago and got beat 45-10...the year the Bears won the Super Bowl...the next week the Redskins went home against a division rival on monday night in the St. Louis Cradinals and beat them 27-17

Historically, Gibbs caoched teams respond rather well to having their ***es handed to them.

The 1985 Cards who finished 5-11? HUGE gut check win.

I believe we are perfectly capable of doing just that. True, the Eagles have a very strong team that can compete on both sides of the ball. But I think our D can hang with them as long as our O produces scores. We as fans have to be as supportive as we can be and make it known that we don't lose faith just because of one bad loss.

Look Eli, just because your team won against a Redskins team that apparently didn't come to play, doesn't mean that our team sucks and we won't win another game, fact is that there are numerous occasions which Gibbs has lost big games and come back and won the next game, that is all that he was saying. Don't you want the redskins to beat the Eagles, even if its to keep them farther from first place, I mean its obvious that you aren't worried about the redskins comming back and taking the division from you, but you would think that maybe the Eagles could if they finally get healthy.

If you guys will remember, that 1985 Cardinals team was one of the favorites to win the NFC going into the season and were 3-1 when we faced them.

Also, they were not allowing as many points per game as the Eagles are this year, and their QB (Niel Lomax) wasn't hoblling all over the place like McNabb.

In addition in 1985 at that point, we did not have near the weapons that we have now...Theismann was the worst rated passer and Riggins was fat and slow...

This team will respond.

Other big losses (by 20 points or more):

1984 we lost 37-13 to the Giants ( )

We won the next week 27-14 against the Falcons (of course they were horrible but still....)

1985 we lost 44-14 to Dallas

We won the next week 16-13 against Houston

1985 we lost 35-8 to the 49ers

We won the next week 17-12 against Philly

1986 we lost 30-6 against Dallas

We won the next week 28-21 against the Cards

1988 we lost 27-2 (:whoknows: ) to the Giants

We won the next game 30-29 against the Steelers

1988 we lost 41-17 against the Oilers

We won the next game 27-24 against the Saints

1988 we lost 34-14 against the Bears

We loss the next game 37-21 against the 49ers (who went on to win the SB)

2005 we loss 28-6 against Philly

We loss the next game 16-7 against the Steelers

He's 7-2 after blowouts and those two losses came against very good teams.

I hate to do this, but I heard that the skins were undefeated their next game after scoring 50 or more points...don't know how many times we scored 50?

Another thing to keep in mind, those bounce back wins came after Joe had the team for a good amount of years, they were molded by him, they were his players, also, they were a confident bunch, having already been to two SB's.

This still isn't a Joe Gibbs team, can't be - its too early. We'll see though, have faith ...

I've asked myself that question since yesterdays game ended, and have come to the conclusion that i would rather the skins win. I believe the Eagles will get revenge on Dallas at home 2 weeks from now, So I'd like for all 3 teams to at least amass 1 loss in the next 2 weeks while we play the 49ers and Vikes

So this week, for once, :eaglesuck

None of that crap matters. We are playing the EAGLES. A team we simply can't beat. We just keep losing to them. Jim Johnson owns the Redskins offense year in and year out. Brunell won't make it through the game again.

PREDICTOR...troll...too...funny.

You are a real downer... it's depressing to even know that you are a Skins fan.

But, as a caveat, I think there are HUGE differences between the St. Louis Cardinals and today's Philadelphia Eagles. But, the point is taken. Historically, Gibbs' teams do respond well after bad losses.

That huge difference was not nearly as huge as you might think. The Cardinals boasted a trifecta of skill players that overall was probably the equal of Philly's. The devil you say? Well, I'm sure memories are a bit foggy, but the trio of Neil Lomax (a gutty Pro Bowler), Roy Green (himself a multiple Pro Bowler), and OJ Anderson (also a multi Pro Bowler) was nothing to sneeze at.

Add into that mix the likes of Dan Dierdorf, Mel Gray, Stump Mitchell, an impressive return man in Via Sikahema and some stout defense from Roger Wehrli, Roy Green (yes, he was a two-way player and a damned good one) and Niko "Don't Call Me Al" Noga, and the Cardinals were actually a pretty damned decent squad.

Overall, they weren't as good as Philly, but they were WAY better than your average Cardinal squad.

The Giant's ain't the '85 Bears.

Philly ain't the '85 Cardinals.

What happened in 1985 has little bearing on what will happen in 2005.

Like someone said, Gibbs has never lost after his team scoring in the 50's the previous week. Guess what? We got creamed, and that stat goes out the window.

Talk about reaching...

I'm just tryig to make some realize that our season is not lost. In the standings the game counts as much as a 1 point loss would. Yeah, it's a division game, but we have another shot at them at Fed Ex.

A few seasons ago, the Bucs went to oakland and lost 45-0...a year later they destroyed them in the Super Bowl.

We all know about the Patriots losing 31-0 to the Bills then winning the Super Bowl. This might be crazy...but when all is said and done...we still might be the most well-rounded team in the NFC. The Giants have had a stinker, so have the Bucs, Eagles, and Bears. We ahve beaten some good teams!...Dallas, Chicago and Seattle. We have had 6 good games and 1 bad one!

What are you talking about? Brunell has never taken a snap against the Eagles as a Redskin. Ramsey played in both games last year.

Didn't Joe Gibbs win his 2nd and 3rd years as head coach?

HAHA, GO ME, I managed to get this guy to be rooting for us this comming week, ok Eli we got you for one week, and I can convert you a week at a time :D, at least I can respect you a little for rooting for teams to help your own, your guys had better be ready come christmas eve, cause if we still have anything to fight for, you don't wanna be in our way at home. And as one of the other people said, If the Skins don't happen to win the Division, I would only want to see the Giants there, I am beyond sick of seeing the Eagirls and Cowpies walking away with the division title. See ya in December......
