jwebst1
Again, I should have re-worded the title....... I got fired up this morning because Greenberg, Golic, and Schlereth spent 10 minutes bashing him.

CandaceM23
Taken from www.nbc4.com/sports 'Jerome' Meets With Redskins' Media Before Halloween Portis Dons Creative Costume POSTED: 8:29 am EDT October 28, 2005 UPDATED: 8:50 am EDT October 28, 2005 ASHBURN, Va. -- Clinton Portis will never be accused of being shy or trying to fade into the background. He might have outdone himself Thursday, though. The Washington Redskins running back donned a full costume for his weekly meeting with the media, emerging from the locker room with a flowing black cape, black Lone Ranger mask, clown-style oversized yellow sunglasses perched atop a shaggy black wig, and fake gold teeth. 'Jerome' Meets Media Slideshow: Images Of 'Jerome' "You've heard of 'Vampire from Brooklyn'? We'll, I'm Jerome from Southeast D.C.," Portis said, laughing at his own joke. "Going to the big city and night lights this week up there in New York City, I heard, so I've got to be prepared. I don't know what I'm going to see." The Redskins play at the New York Giants on Sunday in a matchup of NFC East rivals that are both 4-2. Portis ditched most of his get-up after his chat with reporters, but he kept his wig on even when he entered the players' lunch room. "I have no idea what he's doing all the time, but he makes it fun," tackle Jon Jansen said. "If he dresses like that in New York, he's on his own. Only when he's on the field will we protect him." "I guess he had a big game from wearing a wig last week," lineman Chris Samuels said. "So he's going to do it again." After wearing protective goggles to talk to reporters one week, then sporting retro sunglasses the next, Portis wore a huge gray wig and rectangular-lensed, sci-fi glasses last week, saying he hoped to see the play book better so he could figure out a way to get into the end zone. He ran for three touchdowns in Sunday's 52-17 victory over San Francisco, his first scores of the season. "Having the touchdown drought gone is good, but it's better that we're back to winning ways and hopefully we can continue winning and I can continue scoring," Portis said, stifling giggles long enough to answer a football question. "Both teams are probably at the top of their games right now, so going there won't be easy." Personally ... I think that it's hilarious. I love Clinton. If dressing up like a character every weeks gets him three TD's - I'm all for it.

Lifelong Skins Fan
Maybe I missed the boat but Greenberg and Golic calling someone weird may be a sure sign of the apocalypse. They make a living being human oddities themselves. Has there been a star from Miami who was not at least enigmatic? Have fun Clinton...and keep taking the pilota downtown. :gaintsuck :gaintsuck :gaintsuck :gaintsuck :gaintsuck
DCBnG21
Who cares? He's having a good time...I think it's great. If he has the self-confidence to come out in a batman suit, I have a good idea that he could really care less what the press thinks. Who cares if they bash him....just shows that they don't have a clue. I seriously doubt that the coaches care -- hasn't Coach Gibbs always been about letting his players have a good time? So with that in mind...it's no distraction, he can do whatever he wants. Geez dude, just laugh... They're the ones with the hangup if it's bothering them.... MattGeorge85
Besides it's almost Halloween (obvious), I'll be a little more worried if he does this in the postseason.
Mark911
You can't fault the guy for doing his own thing, but is any other Skins fan kind of embarrassed by it? Did John Riggins embarass you too? I think you take things a little too seriously, or are a bit retarded yourself.
GSF
Portis is obviously a pretty smart dude to come up with some of the stuff he does. Dressing up like Dr. Brown so he can get "back to the endzone". Come on man, that's damn funny and clever. I'd bet Gibbs thinks he's out there, but appreciates Portis loosening things up. Retarded? That's just not right...
coolskin
He has been dressing up every week now, but he is being challenged to out do the costume every time. Plan on more. It's an act. The players look forward to it. Though, it will probably never get as crazy as Rodman in that wedding dress.
Art
Portis is a personality who is having fun with his interviews. It's amusing. If someone spins it as negative, they have a bigger problem than anyone. Portis has said things you can deem negative. His comments about Gibbs' practice stuff could be taken as a negative very easily. Having fun with the media is unlikely to be considered the same by reasonable people. GoCommiesGo
I thought it was great. He's just keeping things light around Redskins Park and doing a damn good job of making everyone life. JPOMPILII
How can you think CP is retarded. When is the last time you can remember a Skins team having so much fun. Let's see, John Riggins come's to mind and how about the Fun Bunch. And guess what, they were all Super Bowl bound. This is great for the team. Clinton livens things up greatly!! McMetal
I think he was just really, REALLY high. It was a bizarre and surreal segment to be sure, but he's just a different cat. I think his schtick helps keep the team loose too, so I have no problems with it.

betsy thurman
Blah, he's just having fun. I'm sure back in the day people thought Riggins was a dope too, that seemed to work out okay. Riggo was called a lot of different things but he was so fun to watch and to hear about ,just ask Sandy!
