Exactly how big is this game to you?

The game is big because it's a divisional game. Those wins are important. It won't really provide much respect for us since I'm sure the Philly trolls will point to the fact that we beat a team with the 31st ranked defense in the league just like these Giants trolls point out that we only layed 52 on the worst defense in the league. Maybe after we beat the Eagles we'll get some respect. If not who cares. We'll just keep on keepin' on.

Division games are tough. Even in a good year, you can only hope for a home and home split. I think we'll probably split with the Eagles and take both from the Giants....well, uh, on second thought, we'll take both from Philly!

Since I am only 20 I was only a little boy when it was the Redskins glory days. Since I've been old enough to really know the ins and outs of football I have gotten used to losing season after losing season. It got so bad that I would cheer for my favorite Redskins to get good stats since the game was out of reach. I would say that previously, the most important game was the playoff game six years ago. I think the game this week is up to date the biggest Redskins game for me. It's a game against two NFC east heavyweights, the second year under Joe Gibbs, and the winner will be in the driver seat of the NFCE, albeit not by alot because Dallas and Philly are playing good ball as well. Theres a intense atmosphere following this game and it helps that both teams are on top of their games coming off big wins. Heres to a great game!

Been a long time since a divisional game felt so meaningful. Maybe some of the 99 games felt the same, although there always seemed to be kind of a hesitation to be enthusiastic about those Turner teams.

It's still early in the season, though, and we'll know a whole lot more about what to be excited about in two weeks.

For those of you too young to remember the 80's/early 90's, wait till you see how it feels if these division games are still meaningful in December. Not for the weak of heart!

We gotta win one of the next two. At the beginning of the season I had predicted a 3-3 division record for us, and I think that would be a HUGE improvement over what we've had since Gibbs left. So with that in mind, this game is not a must win. It's a 'would be REALLY great to' win, for sure, but the season doesn't hinge on us beating the Giants in New York.

All that said, I grew up on Gibbs football, and if we are again a true Gibbs team ... if we REALLY have arrived ... we don't lose this game. We simply don't do it. And from what I can tell, we're there. I just don't see us losing this one.

If we do, well, we're not as far along as I thought. Not the end of the world or anything, but yeah, that would be dissappointing.

And then the game against Philly becomes a must win.

The iggle game next week is the biggest game of the season so far. The Giants game is a huge opportunity for us though.

In a Division so close you have to figure that there could be ties for first place and ties for wild card spots with other Division teams. After Head to Head your Division record not only breaks ties to determine the Division winner, but it also breaks ties for Wild Card spots when two teams from the same division are involved.

At a minimum you have to split with each Division team. It starts by winning the home games. We are already guaranteed a split with Dallas. Next week at home vs. iggles is our best chance to get that split and they still are the toughest team.

We still have our home game vs g-men to ensure that split.

A victory though this week would give us a big advantage because it give us two opportunities to sweep Division opponents, and finish above .500 in Division.

In terms of history, it's a very important game if the Skins are to make the playoffs. Since the 2000 season, 3 wild card teams have come out of the NFC East. Of those 3 teams, the 2000 Eagles had the worst divisional record: 3-3. The other two were both 5-1 in the division. Also since 2000, the worst divisional record held by the winner of the NFC East was 5-1. So, if the Skins are to make the playoffs this year, history tells us that they need to be 5-1 in the division to have the best shot. Which means that a loss this week puts the Skins in the unenviable position of needing to sweep the Eagles to give themselves the best shot at making the playoffs.

In other words, like Mel Kiper said today on Tony K's show, this is the type of game that if the Skins lose, they'll look back at the end of the season and say "that is one that we really needed."

It's also the type of game that, if the Skins really are a team to be reckoned with, they should win. The fact that I actually have confidence that they will win it is testament to what Gibbs and Co. have done in such a short amount of time.

This game is huge because the Skins have lost two in a row on the road. They won the yards and TOP in both(I believe), but made costly mistakes(turnovers, blocked fieldgoals, badly timed penalties)...

This game is important because on paper the Skins should win, they're getting better weekly. They just came off a offensive warmup, thanks to the 49ers and face a team coming off a big comeback victory. This reminds me of the KC game too much, and in a way the Seattle game..except in this case we're Seattle.

The Skins cannot afford mental lapses this game, and if they win, it will show all of us they're mentally more prepared then they've been in over a decade. Gibbs has done an amazing job thus far, and I hope it continues. I do remember the glory days, I do remember the Superbowls, but I miss them. Time for some new good Redskins season memories.

I'm slightly older than you are, so my first real experiance with the redskins was 1986 when they lost the NFC championship to the Giants. I just remember how upset my parents were, so of course I thought it was the end of the world. Then in 1987, I really got into the games. When the Redskins got to the playoffs we played the Bears in the divisional game. My family went to church and the priest happened to say "let the best team win" when he referred to the game during his sermon. My dad got pissed on the way home, saying that the priest "was probably from chicago" because he said that. My dad then told my mom he would never let her drag him to church again. Anyways, that season was amazing. I think I took that super bowl way too seriously also. Good thing we won it.

This game is HUGE!! I'll be watching with my son, his wife, my daughter, and her husband. Guess who the daugher-in-law and son-in-law root for? The miserable Giants. But I am seeing to it that my grandchildren are being raised Redskins.

Any division game is a big game for me as I am tired of cellar dwelling in the NFC East.

If we can pull out a road win this wknd then I'll be real confident heading back home to face Philly. 2-0 in the division with 3 of the last 4 divisional games at home gives us a HUGE advantage heading into the 2nd half of the year. 5 out the the last 9 games of the season are at home, including the rest of our AFC schedule which I am sure we will fare well against. Not to mention we play in AZ where myself and 60 others from this site will be screaming our lungs out from Section 19:D. Count that as a home game;).

This is a big game, but not huge. We are just shy of the half-way mark of the season. We should have a good idea who is good and who is not by this time. The Redskins are good. So are the Giants. So are the Eagles. The Cowboys all suck big fat Rhinocerous ****, but as a team they are good. The intra-division games are always big; but as the season progresses, they only get bigger as the play-off picture becomes clearer. Given the competitiveness that is now evident in this division, this game is bigger for us and the Giants than it is for some other similarly situated intra-division games at this stage in the seasion.

I also have the same gut feel that Art has. There is something about this particular Gibbs led Redskins team that makes me feel that something very special is transpiring this season. Gibb's teams always got better as the season progressed. I see every week an incremental improvement to the team every game. Look at us now versus how we were against the Bears. Gibbs love to dominate TOP. We are doing well there. He likes to utilize the TE's. Sellers and Cooley are like Didier and Orr: scoring a lot, catching a lot, and doing some quality blocking. Finally, Gibbs teams are almost always underestimated. Betting on the Redskins in the 1980's with the spread made you book week end and week out. Although some people take the Skins seriously, most still underestimate them.

So yes, there is a lot going on this season to remind me of the old glory days. And yes, if we are as good as I think we are, then we are in a very competitive division. Accordingly, this game is a big one.

Pretty much right where I'm at, Henry. I get the feeling this is a pretty good team with the potential to become a very good team. A loss in this game doesn't end the season, but it would be a serious setback, perhaps make the players question just how good they are. A win here powers them into the next weekend, and you'll see a playoff atmosphere for the Iggles game.

You have a very tough Redskins defense and an offense that not only continues to improve but might be even better than the defense. Against a suspect Gman defense and a rapidly improving Gman offense, that should be enough to get the job done, even in their house. The key is turnovers, as in not making them. While they're always nice to have, we don't need to force turnovers this week. Just refrain from making them ourselves and I can't possibly see NY sticking it to our guys.

I must admit that this game is HUGE for me. I'm with you young guys that were too young to get the full experience of the glory days. I'm 22. I have been doing nothing, but talking and thinking about this game all week. I have so much confidence in our guys right now and at the same time I am so scared about this game. I think I will be pretty depressed for a few days if something goes wrong this week. Man wouldn't it be so nice to go in to half at this game with a 35-7 lead?? hahaha

If the Skins are to be true playoff contenders, they HAVE to have a winning record against the division rivals. Especially this year when each team has a chance to win the East. This game is very important to win. If they do, then more and more, Gibbs' influence will be taking hold and momentum will increase. I can't remember the last time the team had a winning record against division foes.

I think this year, it will be finally had -- it started with Dallas and must continue with the Giants.
