Om Posted October 27, 2005 Share Posted October 27, 2005 We love having fans of other teams come here to engage in actual football talk, and we even enjoy when they bring spirited debate with them if they've actually got some substance. For its entire existence ES has enjoyed the presence of the loyal opposition--it keeps us on our toes, offers insight into other teams as WELL as our own seen froom the outside in, and frankly, is probably more healthy than a total isolated group of fans all wearing the same colors. Spice of life and all. Problem is, it seems for every Tom or Eagles Legendz, we get 75 knuckleheads not here to talk football or maybe learn something about OUR team, but simply to act the flaming fool until we decide they've peed on the carpet enough and escort them to the door. Im guilty. I go to other teams boards. Just like here, there are always some non homers who will engage in some intelligent conversation with you around the teams. (still trying to see if you guys pass that one) but seriously. why not. if you run into a guy you dont know and start talkign football and you find out hes an eagles fan do you just stop talking to him. People probably come to other boards for the same reason they go to games, to support their teams. If you had tickets to an out of town redskins game would you not go because its not your "home board". come on man its not that serious, its a GAME have fun with it. All of this is true. The good thing about the trolls is that the lion's share only tend to show up for a week per season (maybe two) when their team is playing us. We have found among those would-be, one-week visitors, however some good ones who return. I'm forgetting names right now but we have a Saint fan or two, and a Chiefs fan or two, and a Seahawks fan, who have returned in subsequent weeks after their team played us. This is a good, well run, serious football board. Take pride in the fact that serious football fans of other teams can recognize that fact and welcome them in. We're not a closed shop. RedskinsNation Posted October 27, 2005 Share Posted October 27, 2005 I can appreciate the LOYAL DIE HARD fan of an NFL team even if they despise the Redskins.....I respect anyone who is passionate about their team PERIOD. Im not a trash talker unless provoked....my dear good pal and roomate is an Eagles lover and we respect each other because we both know the other is passionate like no other about his team. I may hate his team and he may hate mine but we respect the love & passion that each other has for his beloved franchise. I dont have a problem with a die hard true 49er, Packer, Giant, Cowboy or Eagle fan etc....its just the fairweather bandwagoners who I dont respect. They now who they are and I do too...usually I will from time to time go to other teams boards and read what they are saying....once in a blue moon i may post something if one of the fans has a question or obscure thought that pertains to the Redskins. I will never or have never "trolled" and I think those that do are just loners looking for attention....like the kid in the back of the classroom who likes to instigate, crack jokes, stir things up because he lacks......something... SkinsHokieFan Posted October 27, 2005 Share Posted October 27, 2005 I post on other teams boards and do my best to be intelligent and informative A lot of times it is just to talk football, and others it is to inform the other teams membership about how ignorant their opinions and facts are For example, extremeskins members that post at Cowboyszone do a lot of informing because quite honestly those silly Cowboy fans don't have a clue about our team and generally like to make up stuff, such as "you guys won because of 2 hail mary's" Clearly that is incorrect so a few of us have gone over there to set the record straight I also post on message boards for the Miami Hurricanes, Virginia Cavaliers, and usually a few times during the week we play a particular opponent I find it fun to talk football with other people and see what they think about our team and if they have some opinion which is contrary to fact, informing them of the facts they are woefully ignorant of Now fans of other teams post here clearly because this is by far the best football board in the universe (or was until we got about 10,000 silly people since the merger, but I am sure that'll filter out) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's a great way to get info. Unfortunately more often than not when a fan of another team posts even if he is polite and knowledgable the thread dissolves into a flaming war. Some want to have their own private little circle jerk, think their team walks on water and is the greatest thing on the planet regardless, and loves just talking trash and pissing on every other team. Others enjoy intelligently analyzing teams and the strategy of the game, and for those if you can find an opponents site with intelligent life it's a great way to enjoy some analysis and learn about the opponent.
