Why we'd want Grossman over Danny or Shane?

"He is tremendously talented," said Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer. "Every time I watch film on him, I'm more and more impressed with his arm strength, delivery, toughness. He's a very special quarterback."

Grossman's blend of ****iness and confidence has been compared to Spurrier. His ultra-quick release to that of Marino.

Need we say more? :D

Grossman has a stronger arm with a Wuerffel like understanding of Spurrier's system. What's not to like. I still think Grossman is a 2nd round prospect as it stands. He's competing with guys like Leftwich, Ragone, Simms, Manning, etc to be drafted in the 1st. He's smaller then the prototype QB and he has to fight the "product of the system" and "Florida QB" stigma he will have going into the draft.

It doesn't matter though. Ramsey is Snyder's guy, he's going to be paid well and will have to be used. Maybe wait one more year for Brock Berlin;)

It's just a hunch, but if for some reason the skins are in a position to draft one of the top QB's coming out next year, they will pull the trigger.

Ramsey althought a first rounder is cheap and can be had for the lenght of his rookie contract and if the new QB turns out to be as good or better than Ramsey, then you are in a good position to get good trade value down the road, ala Warner - T. Green or Favre - Brunnell.

Just a thought:bow:

The situation with Grossman is a little more complex than most of the other QBs coming out. He can't really be labeled "product of the system," b/c the system is gone. Conversely, if he perfroms very well under a brand new system, it will show how intelligent he is to pick up another offense quickly--granted there are many similarties between the new offense and the HBC's. But there is new terminology to learn, formations, and his new OC has him doing a lot of roll outs and such. Interesting thing is, Leftwich at Marshall, lost his OC too, b/c he went to none other than Florida to coach Grossman...confusing, huh? So, if Grossman and Leftwich prove they can still put up guady numbers under brand new systems, their stocks will rise considerably, and it will of course drop, but not as drastically, if they do not perform well.

Grossman is the best overall QB the HBC ever had at Florida, IMO. I'd love to see him in Burgundy and Gold. I'm not sold on Chrissy Simms, but Leftwich and Raggone seem to be the most legit, along with Grossman. Needless to say, there are some VERY good QBs coming out next year, so our need for Ramsey--along with the performance of Danny and Sage last Friday night--is no longer there.

Just to throw another monkey wrench into this thing, Grossman has said he is coming back for his senior year, meaning he won't be available for the 2003 draft at all. Perhaps, we can get him in the 2004 draft and get a more pressing need in the 2003 draft. Should be interesting.
