SkinnedUntilRed
Personally, I can't stand Kornheiser. Every time within the last year that I have read his column about the Redskins on the Washington Post, everything has been negative in some way. I know that the guy thrives on doom and gloom, but come on. He's not only constantly either calling out Joe Gibbs for something or denouncing Mark Brunell (even after the Seahawks game), but he is just so despondent about everthing. He's an egoist, to boot. Column before the Niners game was about how he was giving the 49ers "bulletin board material". A strange all-out assault at our head coach because he felt offended that Gibbs didn't want the media harping on how horrible the Niners were. He's a wrinkled little bald snake in the grass, one of those friends you don't want to have because he's so negative and fatalistic about everything. I don't care whether he drove a Redskins van thirty years ago or not, I'm tired of the guy, and will dedicate my Post reading to Wilborn alone. s0crates
I happen to like Kornheiser. And I'm a total homer. He writes entertaining articles about the Redskins and that is good enough for me. It is OK not to agree on everything. He can be a downer. But then again so can the 'skins lately (until this year). His tone changed in 1999, when the team deserved positive press. It'll change this year too, as the team improves.
herrmag
I don't know if I "hate" him, but his negative spin on EVERYTHING does get old. He's a manic depressant's wet dream. To be honest, the whole 980 crew has gone the way of "doom and gloom". Apparently cynicism and negative rhetoric sells.....At least in the Washington Metro Area. Andy Polin, however, despite his negative views as of late, is a true fan. So is Czabe, although I'm not sure watching the Redskins win outweighs his thirst for criticizing the Redskins franchise. Ever since Joe Gibbs refused to do their talk show, they've been "out to get him" so to speak.

dawgjk9
hes funny to read, not much to read anymore though as his articles seem to keep getting shorter as he only cares about his radio and tv now...i dont like how hes been really negative about the skins but im sure as we get better and if we win a tough one on the road (like the one on sunday) he'll pull out the bandwagon right away

I don't care whether he drove a Redskins van thirty years ago or not, I'm tired of the guy, and will dedicate my Post reading to Wilborn alone. Every one of those columns sounded very tongue-in-cheek to me. Wilbon is a serious columnist that criticizes football decisions. Kornheiser makes fun of everything, that's his whole schtick - feigned outrage, hyperbolic cynicism, sarcastic humor ... I would never use the words "all-out assault" to describe a Kornheiser column. I don't think he's every really that serious about anything, and I enjoy reading his columns because they're fun. Sometimes that kind of humor is perfect for the situation, like when Clinton Portis says that he almost made the olympics in 1998 and Tony points at that those were the winter olympics . Ancalagon the Black
Negative spin? I think you need to recalibrate your sarcasm meter. I get annoyed at Kornheiser a lot because he writes about himself more than he writes about sports. I've said this before. However, he can be really entertaining when he feels like it. A hard-core football analyst he's not, but I don't read him to learn about football.
Spaceman Spiff
I'm a fan. He's a funny guy, he has a schtick, plays it up well. He doesn't try to be anything more than he is. Him and Wilbon play off each other well. Talk about the doom and gloom all you want, but everyone has a friend like him, I think. What makes me laugh is when he goes to break on his radio show and says "I'm Tony Kornheiser" really softly and seriously. Dunno why, but it always makes me laugh. sumodat
I don't really hate reading his articles, but I HATE his radio show! He is a sports writer. So when his columns are about sports, it's ok. When he does his radio show on SPORTS talk 980, he talks about everything BUT sports. People like him think people care to know what he thinks about things. Even worse, apparently some people do care to know what he thinks about things aother than sports. Yeah, I hate him. He is a whiney, self absorbed prick.
GrimReefa
I like Tony's columns for three reasons. 1. They're funny. 2. His opinions are always on his sleeve, although because they're delivered humorously, they never come across as scathing or mean-spirited. 3. When he's wrong, he says he was wrong. (i.e., the Santana Moss trade) Anybody who thinks that he is too negative has obviously never read The Bandwagon Columns. Go back and take a look - it makes some of the stuff you'll find on this board look like doom n' gloom by comparison. If the Redskins give Kornheiser a reason to believe they'll win, he'll be as optimistic as anybody. As for Kornheiser's radio show - ok, it's not all about sports. But don't act like he doesn't talk about the Redskins on that show. And besides, after a while, you run out of sports stuff to talk about. Ever listen to Dan Patrick's show all the way through? He says the same things over and over and over again. If you listen to Kornheiser, you'll hear what he thinks about the Redskins, a few more major sports issues, maybe hear a movie review, and some celebrity gossip. And it's gonna be funny the whole time. I live by Baltimore, and in this market there is a radio show - the Mark Viviano Show, which is basically a three-hour call-in show about the Ravens. And it is so increidbly boring to listen to, even though I like the two guys who do the show. They just talk about the same stuff day in and day out, get the same boring, obnoxious phone calls, and go through the same boring routine. Anyway, I'm a big TK fan, and a big MW fan. PTI is a groundbreaking show, and the reason the other sportswriter talk shows (Around the Horn, Quite Frankly, First & 10, etc.) don't work as well (or in the case of Quite Frankly, suck completely) is because TK and MW are the wittiest voices in sportswriting. GhostRider
I remember blasting someone on here about Kornheiser, but after enduring his morning radio show lately I humbly apologize. PTI is great, but the radio show is nauseating. I'm seriously considering SIRIUS even though I enjoy M&M, the Dan Patrick show, the JT show, Sports Reporters, and Bram. the morning show is intolerable with Kornheiser and his soap opera talk. If anyone from 980 is reading please replace him, his ego is too much drama for sports fans.

krsone
well, the stuff that he writes are sometimes exactly how i feel. this doesnt happen often though. problem with kornheiser with me is that , it seems like he takes his job lightly now. it seems like his articles are short, simple and full of sarcasms. to me, he is not a sports columnist. he writes nothing about the game or sports at all. If he wants to be regarded as a comedian which he is trying to be, he should just stick to PTI and just stop writing period because its just a waste of space in the post. Let me tell you whos more annnoying that kornheiser, sally jenkins. I said in another thread, everytime we lose, this ***** writes about the redskins. so we just beat the niners and guess what? no article from this worthless bioootch. this my friend is what you call a bias writing. ccsl2
TK is the shiznit! Funny, articulate, and actually knows what he's talking about...yeah he is not hardcore sports, but his job is to entertain, and he does that...there is enough "hard core" sportstalk on 980 already...I think TK talking about things other than sports is refreshing...980 is not gonna replace him anytime soon...his show always has good ratings in it's time slot...so if you don't like listening to him, just turn the dial to the right. 36HAMMER
with a dose of salt. he seems like he should be working the comedy club instead of his sports gig. and sometimes he seems to like to hear himself talk, but show me a talking head that doesn't. alas, there are some diffenite times that he brings a cool and reasonalbe head to things. especially when zabin gets on one of his extreme rolls. tony comes along with his higher standing and disagree's with zaban and derails it. i think that he said that zabin was the oliver stone of sports radio and i agree. zaban is the one this thread should be about. he has questioned the sanity the heart and motives of our coach and judges everything like he knows what he's talking about and when he disagrees with a caller he either hangs up or arrogantly dismisses them with his college degree.which by the way i am not impressed by.tony has his moments but i will take him over zaban anyday of the week.
