Dallas OL takes a hit ...

I never like gloating about injuries.

It all goes back to, "There, but for the Grace of God, go I (we)".

We've been relatively lucky so far regarding injuries. Besides, I don't want Dallas to have any excuses when we take it to them. :)

A Redskin's fan laughing at Dallas O-line.

When it counts (i.e regular season) Dallas O-line has totally dominated the Skins defense for the past 10 years. Keep laughing, Thanksgiving is about a couple of months away.

I agree that laughing over another team's injuries (other than the dirty Eagles under Buddy Ryan) is not something we should support on this board.

Hopefully we have more sportsmanship than that. After all this isn't the 'Raider Nation'. :)

Qcard, I can understand you being upset at the bent of a post or two on this thread. ;)

Speaking objectively, however, the outcomes of this year's Redskins/Cowboys matchups are likely to be different than ANY of us now think, due to the fact the Redskins are going to be fielding 3 new DL in their top 5 rotation.

The Skins have been notoriously weak over the years in defense against the run right up the gut.

Weak play from the DT alongside Wilkinson and from the MLB has been the primary cause.

You add Dotson and Gardener to the mix, both of whom are run specialists, as well as Trotter at 260 at MLB and the Skins are quite a different defense now than in 2001 or before in the 'triangle' :)

I can also say that Reynaldo Wynn on the outside at 6'3 and 290 is a step up in point of attack strength from Marco Coleman who was 6'3 and 267 and 32 years old.

So, altogether, we are likely to see some different outcomes. :)

Dallas may still get the edge in some matchups, esp. with Larry Allen around, but the Skins may now have some of their own :D

Yadaa Yada yada.

I have heard the same WAR cry for the past 4 years.

oohhh we got Sean Gilbert :jump:

ooh we got Deion, Carrier :jump:

oohh we got Stubblefield and Wilkinson :jump:

oooh we got Lang, Bruce and marco Coleman. :jump:

oooh we got Trotter, Wynn and coaches galore

Honestly until the Redskins beat the Cowboys, all Cowboy fan will laugh and scoff at whatever players you guys line-up across the line of scrimmage.

I suggest you guys stick to the 10-22 Mantra

Just win baby!!!!

That was not the point. If you want to discuss things with me, stick to the topic.

You stated, incorrectly, that the Cowboys offensive line completely dominated the Redskins defensive line.

The proof was the sweep we layed on your team.

I do agree that it is pretty classless to celebrate another teams injury misfortunes.

While I understand the favorite Cowboy response to ANY question is 'Five Rings! Five Rings! America's Team!!!'' you might want to take a deep breath and re-examine the question.

It was posed in response to your contention that the Cowboys' OL has owned the Redskins DL for ten years, which of course is blatantly false. Still, you can always tell when the obvious escapes a Cowboy fan because he starts counting rings.

Well dark-horse. My proof is in the Emmitt Smith stats against your team.

You want semantics

In 1995 in

-week 5 Emmitt rushed for 95 yards on 22 carries 38 rec yards

that is 4.31 yards per pop. Get a grip buddy.

- week 14 Emmitt rushed for 91 yards on 21 carries 16 rec yards that is 4.33 yards per pop. Get real buddy.

Other contributing factors lead to the Redskins (deservingly) winning the game, but Emmitt's success against your team due to our dominating O-line is very evident.

I wonder who going to break sweetness record?

Sorry I got side tracked sometimes I forget to stick to the topic due to trash talking, butr if you want to go there I am game.

Cowgirls and Skins fans alike...

It is important to remember that the Cowgirls don't have any more rings than the Skins do. The Skins won two NFL Championships before the Super Bowl was created (which really wasn't all that long ago). 3 Lombardi Trophies plus 2 NFL Championships = 5 rings!!! Don't forget it!! It bothers the he11 out of me when Skins fans submit to the false idea that the Cowboys have won more championships than we have. It's just not true. :box:

Emmitt has been a great player and is nearing a milestone that is truly unbelievable in some regards.

He is a first ballot Hall of Famer obviously.

That point I think is quite separate from the one of how the two teams match up now and where the comparative rushing attacks are.

(I know some here are too worried about scoring flame points to discuss that topic :( )

For 2002, the Redskins with Stephen Davis have the best running game in the NFC East.

In fact as a ground rusher Davis is probably among the best in the league.

Other rushers have done more on the receptions side and that has worked to slight Davis in the past, but on third and one or fourth and one I don't know too many people that would prefer to have Ahman Green or Garrison Hearst behind the quarterback. :)

That and his durability are the keys. You look at Eddie George and Edgerrin James who both missed large chunks of last season. You look at Jamal Lewis in Baltimore.

Davis has run for 1,400-1,300-1,400 in the past three seasons despite being supported by a credible passing attack only once during that span, in 1999.

otherwise it has been the Davis show for the Redskins. Marty depended on him to salvage the season and cover up for his own poor decision-making at the quarterback position.

Davis gives the Redskins and whatever quarterback emerges from the competition a nice edge on Sundays.

you can' t key on the pass because then you risk being burned for a 30 or 40 yard run.

teams continually understimate Davis' potential to break runs to the outside.

he has run for good yardage against some solid defenses as well. not all of his yards came against the expansion Browns as Corey Dillon's did a couple of years ago

What did he have 360 yards in those two games? Incredible :)

No, Davis gives the Redskins something none of the other East teams have, an in the prime franchise back.

In NY, Barber lacks the durability to be a 25 carry back. Dayne is too slow and doesn't have the vision to be a prime back.

In Philly, there is a cast of older runners each with a recent history of serious injuries. Buckhalter, who may have emerged the starter, is out for the season.

In Dallas, Emmitt is Emmitt. I don't have any doubt if he is 100% he will get 1,000 yards. What his per carry average will be and how many td's he will score is dependent upon whether the team can mount a passing attack. Hambrick might be a successor, but you don't want to label anyone as being a 'Smith-successor' until you see 'em do it full-time.

In Spurrier's spread offense, I see Davis getting 1,200 or 1,300 yards again but with a much higher per carry average than the 4.0 from last season. The 4.8 mark from 1999 is possible.

I also see Davis being among the conference leaders in touchdowns again. He slumped to 6 last season when the team didn't get into the red zone very often.

His 18 touchdowns in '99 is reachable. :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the last game of that "sweep" of which you speak was the last game at RFK. Switzer was criticized by some Cowboys fans for resting his starters for the impending playoffs and playing the scrubs. Some thought we should have made more of a game of it, what with The Rivalry and all.

After the game, Switzer's comment to the Skins was a shrug and a smile.

"Merry Christmas!" Barry told the Skins faithful.

Guess some of you guys are still pulling out that toy to play with. Hope you enjoy it.

Goat-

You are incorrect.

The last Skins sweep of the Girlz was in 1995. The 'Girlz were in a race with either the Whiners or the Beagles when the Skins beat them the second time, a victory sealed when Emmitt Smith fumbled the ball on what would have been a go-ahead TD...but was NOT. The 'Girlz ended up losing out to the Whiners for home field advantage throughout the playoffs that year, which became moot because Green Bay upset the Whiners.

Next year, in 1996, the last game of the year was at RFK, and Switzer pulled his starters after one quarter because he couldn't get a better playoff spot. But the 'Girlz did not go to the Super Bowl that year.

Murilo,

Thanks for the correction. The last Cowboy Super Bowl is so far back in time I can't keep the memories straight.

I appreciate your setting me straight on that.

I will step back now and let you guys go on laughing about our injuries on the OL, which was the purpose of this thread.
