right about in the ballpark with those figures!

We have the opportunity, with a big, hole-hitting back like Davis and some big linemen, to be a run-first team.

It seems Spurrier will not do that.

On the other hand, Davis may get fewer carries, but more yards per carry. Davis breaking into the open field is truly a beautiful thing. He accelerates so fast and just chews up yardage as defenders scramble to get him. With a few more preseason performances like last Saturday, the Skins are going to see very, very few 8-man fronts anymore. Davis could bust some long ones this year.

Spurrier is going to use Davis alot but many of the running plays will be different than you are used to seeing. Since the passing game sets up the run you may see more misdirection shovel passes, delays, traps, short passes to the RB coming out of the backfield, fake reverses etc.

Contrary to what I've read here, this offense is not exclusively cued to preread the defense and call audibles. True, you will see this frequently and at times a majority of the plays will be audibles but the true beauty of the offense is that first few steps after the snap. That is where DW's expertise truely lies. Its kind of like making the break after racking balls on the pool table, you really don't know precisely how it will break until you have made your shot. In Spurriers "O", as the play begins to set there are numerous adjustments the "D" will make. The plays are designed to create mismatches and frequently cause defensive players to choose their poison deciding how to cover the play as it develops. It is the QB's duty to read the plays as they sets up and make the right decisions. You will hear Spurrier always speak about his QB decision making. That is why Ramsey and to a lesser degree Sage are at a big disadvantage in the QB competition. There are alot of talented QB's that can't do this very well.
