The REAL story Mortensen reported: Skins/49ers

Recommended Posts

The real interesting thing that Mortensen reported deals with the 49er coaching staff's reaction to the pounding they received Saturday night. As if Mariucci's original quote wasn't enough, apparently one 9er assistant coach angrily said to a Skins assistant coach after the game, "We'll see you in 6 weeks."

I can't believe this. How can you ask a bunch of kids trying their damndest just to make the Redskins roster not to try hard? Maybe if the 49ers coaches weren't guaranteed of having their jobs this year they'd understand why McCants, Thompson and Company were still working their tails off in the 4th quarter. These guys are fighting for jobs. :gus:

Haha see you in 6 weeks, oooo we're sooo scared, NOT! Mike Rumph sucks as does the whole 9er secondary. This 1st string vs 3rd string argument is BS. Our starters played just as little as their starters did, the problem is a)we have more O and D depth b)SOS makes it look too easy.

Week 6 prediction

Skins 31

Niners 6

Get used to this. This is part of the atmosphere Spurrier draws to any team he coaches. Much of the time Spurrier was accused of running up the score at Florida was in the 4th quarter when he had the 2nd and 3rd string O-line in along with the back-up RBs and WRs...and sometimes the backup QB. He would always say, "What am I supposed to do? Tell these guys that have practiced hard all week not to try when they get a chance to get into the game? They know our offense too and they are trying to show their abilities."

It makes perfect sense that if you ever have to depend on those backups, you want to be sure they are ready to execute your offense. BUT...this approach made the Gators and Spurrier hated by everyone in the SEC. The same will come in the NFL if the Skins are successful.

"See you in 6 weeks."

There can be only one reply...

BRING IT ON! :D

Ya, it's great to start pounding our chests sayin bring it on and all that, but do you all actually think the rematch will be a walkover?

The Niner have a pretty good team, and trust they wont be taken lightly by the coaching staff. If they are, we will lose.

Not trying to be a killjoy, just not whearing the rose colored glasses.

Forget the fortywhiners

Just by reading that, I have come up with a nickname for them, Thanks.

To even think that a single syllable can be uttered from the mouth of a coach, against another, simply because his team lost, is prophetic in what I said about Mariucci. He is another one that believes that because of his team's legacy, you should lay down and die, paying your tribute.

Steve, my friend, this 'aint gangsta's in 1933, you 'aint Al Capone, and we 'aint fuc*kin' scared of your candy***!

I just love the fact that we actually can talk smack and at least be much more confident than we were under Marty or Norv. It feels good to tell them to bring it instead of hiding in a corner crying. Bring it on San Fran!

"On my signal....unleash hell!!"
