Riggo-toni
Opponents are averaging less than 13 points a game against us, and yet the majority of mediots continue to predict other teams hanging 25+ points on us. Putting us as underdogs on road games is one thing, but prognosticating a high scoring game against us displays willful ignorance and probable bias. After seeing us giving up long runs in the last couple of games, I’m not sure which we miss more – having Pierce making sure guys are in the right place at the right time, or having Pierce take the middle so Lemar Marshall is on the outside to make tackles. Gregg Williams is forced to play Ade Jimoh and a rookie at CB, holds Plummer to under 100 yds. Passing, and people are complaining? I am officially jumping on the Brunell bandwagon. That was a very impressive performance, especially done in the pouring rain. I’ve been an ardent Ramsey supporter, even after the Cowboys win, but the last couple of games have convinced me. I was wrong about everything regarding the Broncos game. I figured both sides would stop the run, they had a better QB, but we had better WRs. Instead, both teams had big success running the ball, and Brunell was the only top QB of the day. At least I was right about our receivers…. After 2 blocked FGs in 2 games, I’m starting to have nasty flashbacks to the 2000 season, when we had a top 5 defense, but our kicking game caught up to us after Conway got hurt and kept us out of the playoffs. :paranoid: Brunell is spreading the ball around with almost Brady-like efficiency. It was good to see Patten getting involved, as well as seeing more and more of Cooley. Was that guy a draft steal, or what? He runs like Jerome Bettis after the catch, just plowing through guys. Look for Brunell to get another 300+ yard game against KC’s weak defense. Look for the return of the loop kickoffs (extra high and landing around the 20) to protect us against Donte Hall. Am I the only one who thinks Danny Smith might be the one assistant to get the ax? (ok, maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part…) Other than the all too important red zone, our offense continues to get better and better. That was our OL’s best performance to date. Now if we could just punch it in… Prediction: If our O stays healthy, we will be averaging 26+ppg the second half of the season. I know McGnat was playing hurt, but suddenly the Eagirls don’t look so invincible anymore. Actually, we would’ve beaten them last year if it weren’t for the bogus interference call. If Akers is out for the season, that makes them that much less likely to win a nailbiter. They are still an elite team, but the aura of invincibility is dissipating. I’m actually entertaining thoughts of us winning the division. OK, so the mediots claimed we were the worst 3-0 team in history. We barely lose to one of their darlings after clearly outplaying them, while Tampa Bay, who had played patsies all year, loses to the Jets a week after they pick up a 42 year old QB off the street. We may not be Indy, but I’d say we were the 2nd best undefeated team left. And all those a-holes talking about how the Cowgirls outplayed us (a spurious claim at best), will any of them discuss how we (clearly) outplayed the Broncs. Of course not – they’re too busy gleefully reporting about how the 2nd round pick we threw in for Portis outplayed him. The max-protect schemes that everyone ridiculed as being so outdated last year are now working beautifully, now that we have competent WRs. Moss is reminding me more and more of Gary Clark every week.

ntotoro
Brunell is spreading the ball around with almost Brady-like efficiency. This has been a pleasant surprise. Often at times I'd see Patrick go back to pass and I'd start saying a Hail Mary. Now, it's almost as if I expect something good to happen. Weird. This team is coming together nicely... budski
The defense did a good job of keeping plummer boxed in also. Overall I was very impressed by the offense.
zoony
Great post. The only thinig I would add is that I made it a point to watch Dockery on a lot of plays Sunday, as he seems to always take a beating on this board. Maybe I caught him on a good day, but he looked dominant. :whoknows: The other thing that kind of excites me about the Philly loss is that teams will be dissecting the tape of that game. Looks like Parcells found a defensive formula to lock them down. This bodes well...
Riggo-toni
Dockery always seems to start out slow, then pick up steam as the season goes on. The last game was VERY encouraging. Did Parcells stick to nickel defense against the Eagles? Seems like the way to go, since they don't run the ball. I think Williams will use more 3-4 and nickel packages against them. The best part is I'm thinking now Brunell and our receivers can pick apart that secondary if they're keyed on Portis.

Riggo-toni
Hopefully it will be healthy by the time we play them.
