Snakeheads Overtaking the Potomac

Two guys caught more than 80 snakeheads in Dogue Creek, which feeds into the Potomac. They were catching them in clumps, didn't even need bait.

After 5 years of Republican rule it doesn't surprise me that snakes have infested the Potomac. Have you noticed that they are starting to eat each other?

Well I guess this thread proves that any topic can be turned into a political argument

Or it can be turned into a conversation about your wings. You haven't been dropping the used chicken bones into the Potomac have you? Snakeheads love chicken bones.

Could be a fun place to throw some m-80's into the water.

My brother in law was at an event that served the snake head ceviche, he said it was good. It was some foodie/wine snob event that Andrew Zimern was attending.

do they have any predators we can import to kill 'em or would those predators just make matters worse?

edit: damn, bump-owned.

It's actually interesting to look back at the panic induced by this fish. Turns out they didn't grow in size and number to the point where they ate everything in the potomac and, forced by their ravenous appetite, crawl onto land consuming pets, infants, and democracy.

Damn , I just realized that I posted the same **** like right after him :ols:

It's the first thing that pops into my head every time I hear or read "snakehead". The local news was in a full panic about it. I remember the teasers like "do snakeheads present a danger to your family outside of the water?!"

With all this talk of eating them I feel the need to go catch one, even they may contain poisonous levels of Potomac juice.

Can these ***holes bite you? Can they survive in the bay?

I don't think they can survive in the bay. As for biting you... they only do that after they've lured your far from shore and anyone that could possibly save you.

I remember seeing them at the Amazonia display at the National Zoo. They were in the same exhibit as the Black Caiman (I think) and they wouldn't go near fullsize Snakeheads.
