CEJ2200
OK - The one turnover of the game went against us, but that isn't why we lost this game. My take on this game has been and will continue to be - the blocked FG (the second in as many games) cost us the win. We make that FG, the 2 point conversion is a pipedream to be pulled out at another game. With that off my chest, on to the thread: One area we need to work on, and which will turn us into a truly GREAT Defense, is a positive turnover margin. I think it starts with the pressure up front. Our line is doing an incredible job stuffing the run (yesterday's 2 plays excluded), but we continue to NOT get any pressure on the QB. We start getting to the quarterback coupled with the talent we possess in our secondary, and INT's start showing up on our stat sheet on a regular basis which starts translating into W's. Even if we don't convert on each turnover, the odds play out favorably for those teams having a positive in the turnover ratio at the end of the game (no new news to anyone here). Leads me to another point: We may or may not keep Arrington (which I hope we do), but with his athleticism and his ability get deep into the backfield, it would seem ideal to unleash him on opposing QB's thereby causing an increased chance of A) Sacks, loss of yards from a RB, C) INT's, or D) incomplete passes. While Plummer only had 92 yards passing yesterday, can you imagine if Arrington had been on the field to create a little havoc?! You could add an INT to his stats and a sack. Maybe Arrington doesn't get the sack in that scenario, but I do believe another teammate benefits from #56's ability to flush the QB out of the pocket. This is not another "Where is Arrington" thread, but I would like to see more opposing QB's buried a half inch deeper into the field at FED-EX or a field of their choice. Arrington just seems like a good option.
illone
I agree. Now that the offense is able to move the ball consistently it appears our biggest weakness is indeed our pass rush. Let's make a trade with the Jets for Vilma and Abraham:laugh: Arrington and Ramsey, maybe?
CEJ2200
I'll take a solid pass rushing DE. Looking soley at his ability to make plays, Abraham would be a dream come true.
