I Believe...

I typically don't post topics here unless it is some kind of news article. I lurk more than anything else, but I felt like I should make this topic. For the first time since the early 90's, I actually have full confidence in this team. I BELIEVE this team is a good team, and definatly a playoff calibur team in the NFC.

Everybody has been questioning our offense, claiming we can't get anything done. We got 404 yds of total offense, and Portis averaged over 5.0 a carry on a solid defensive unit. If we keep this up, I have no doubt in my mind we can get to the 10 win plateau. This team has showed me that it can come back when it's down. Granted, we did not get the 2 pt conversion but we did drive down the field for 94 yards. Cooley is playing better, Santana is still doing this same things from Week 1, and Patten even showed up today with a few key grabs. I actually have confidence in our offense.

I must admit, I was a little disappointed with our defense after the Seattle game. I felt like I was let down when our offense actually did decent. They did well today, despite giving up the two runs. They got some 3 and outs and got the ball back to our offense. The way our offense has been using up the clock these last two games, I believe our defense and our ball possession offense is a deadly combo. I'm a little worried about Rogers, and I hope Harris comes back next week. I feel a lot better when he is playing. It does two things: 1. Allow Rogers to learn from the nickelback spot, and 2. Keep Jimoh off the field when we are on defense. The two aspects that I feel we are lacking on defense is pass rush and creating turnovers. I hope our D will create some turnovers as the season progresses.

As for special teams, Novak did decent, but I am extremely nervous when we send him out there. It's the second week he got a blocked kick, and gave the opposition great field position. Hopefully Hall returns next week, and stays healthy throughout the season. Frost's punts were pretty good besides the one shank. I believe he will get better as season progresses.

Even with all the injuries and miscues we had this game, we almost beat a playoff team at their home in inclement weather. I BELIEVE this team can make the playoffs. I have CONFIDENCE that we can SCORE points and STOP the opposition's offense. HTTR! :logo:
