Impressive new single from Scott Stapp, "The Great Divide"

Ok, before the rest of my metalhead bretheren hunt me down, and beat me to a pulp. I've always thought Creed was ok. They are what they are, and they created some memorable pop rock tunes.

The new single from Stapp "The Great Divide" can be heard here on his website. It's a good one. I dig the "Zeppelinesque" intro also.

Get over "creed sucks, worst band ever, blah blah blah" and check it out.

They use Jimmy Page and Bonzo's sound techniques. Do them justice and play one of thier songs if you can't get anything else out of your, poor ,looping rock.

It turns from a robbery of Zep's "Going to California" in to another one of those lullibies. I know there are people that get something out of this, but if you've ever appreciated musicianship in music, it might rub you the wrong way.

Pearl Jam also sampled "Going to California" with their song "Given to Fly" off of Yield. I think it's the highest form of flattery. I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, and I have no problem with it. Rap artists have been sampling rock songs for years. Everybody does it, sometimes it's just more subtle. This song is obviously Zep influenced.

I'm not a huge Creed fan, but a cover band I was in played alot of their songs so I did appreciate them. I do like how they fit in heavy guitar with pop style songs.

I like Alter Bridge as well. Mark Tremonti is a pretty good guitar player.

I did not care for this particular song however.

Alterbridge is fantastic. I really like their album. I think the whole reason Creed split is because Tremonti was feeling limited by the formula. He lets loose on One Day Remains, and like you said. He's pretty good.

Totally agree. I think they could have picked a better singer (one that sounds less like Stapp) but as a band, they are really good. I wish I had gone to see them when they were playing a small club gig near me. But the CD had just came out and I missed the opportunity.

I hope they do well.

I believe if you're going to use a catchy tune that somebody else thought up, you should at least be a band or artist that actually sounds like they've been influenced by them. I mean, every Creed song sounds like an acent to heaven, are you telling me there's no sign of a marketing ploy? He's not exactly on top of the world right now. His band had a nice radio-run for 3 or 4 years; every "different" song was like a seperate part of ONE progressive rock song. At least when Zeppelin copied old blues artists, they would truely flatter them.

I bet if Robert Plant heard that, he might be tickled but, he wouldn't think about it twice.
