DeanCollins
David Frost joins al-Jazeera TV http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4318284.stm Sir David will broadcast from the channel's London base Veteran UK broadcaster Sir David Frost is to join Arabic-language TV station al-Jazeera, the network has confirmed. Sir David is to appear on al-Jazeera International, the pan-Arab news network's new English-language channel, due to be launched next spring. The Qatar-based channel said Sir David, who broadcast his final Breakfast with Frost programme for the BBC in May, would be among the "key on-air talent". Sir David was quoted as saying he felt "excitement" about his new role. "Most of the television I have done over the years has been aimed at British and American audiences," he said. ntotoro
"Most of the television I have done over the years has been aimed at British and American audiences," he said. Now he'll just be talking to and about people who want to aim bombs at British and American audiences.
DeanCollins
I hope they don't behead him on live tv, that wouldn't be entertaining:laugh:
Predicto
Now he'll just be talking to and about people who want to aim bombs at British and American audiences. Or maybe he will be talking to people that have no other source of news than their slanted government's propaganda. Al Jazeera has a lot to answer for in their performance so far, but they are not without hope. A non governmental press in that part of the world that is not perceived as being Western controlled could be a very, very good thing. If they are at all neutral, they could do a lot to alleviate the suspicions of millions of people who have been fed garbage news for decades. I respect David Frost - so I'll wait and see what comes of this.

Joe Sick
Just curious if people see the similarities between Fox and Al Jizzera? Fox has nicer graphics and catchier theme music. They also have better looking "anchors." Hey, Sarge. What channel is Al-Jazeera? I don't get it on my cable package. Is it Directv?

Cskin
Just curious if people see the similarities between Fox and Al Jizzera? Yeah...I'm quite sure Al-Jazzera has opposing views on programming like Alan Colmes and others in order to fairly represent the Western World's views. Wow Cho... sometimes you're left sunglasses should come off every now and then. chomerics
Yeah...I'm quite sure Al-Jazzera has opposing views on programming like Alan Colmes and others in order to fairly represent the Western World's views. Wow Cho... sometimes you're left sunglasses should come off every now and then. Just the fact that you think Colmes is a "liberal" is hillarious in and of itself. It's funny, all the people that thought Fox was a watchdog station when Clinton was in power have had to come to their defense when they showed their true colors and pulled a 180 in now defending anything Bush has done. They are the "apologist" network now, but when you are that tied to the republican party, you have to play the game they are playing. They are the problem with the system, and if you can't recognize them as a similar entity to Al Jizzera, promoting only one viewpoint, distorting facts, and using intellectual dishonesty to promote their viewpoint then you are the one wearing the glasses. One more thing, you don't fight theocratical fascism by becoming the same. When you do that, you have already lost.

Isn't this exactly what they are doing with hires like this one and also the marine from control room? In fact, they often show speeches from the president including the state of the union where he explains our position. I also did a quick google search and came up with this: Which demonstrates that they do in fact have people on giving the american's view on things. http://www.state.gov/s/d/former/armitage/remarks/30567.htm So they do broadcast opposing opinions. I don't watch al-jazeera so I don't have any idea how often they present "our side." But they certainly do present it sometimes. I would never call them unbiased, but neither is fox. What they are is the single most unbiased and credible news organization broadcasting in arabic.
