sircharlz
With the bye week here, coach Gibbs has 2 weeks to gameplan for the Seahawks. We've got a little breathing room with being 2-0, he'll be a little less tentative with opening up the offense. With a descent offensive showing and another stellar defensive game we'll be 3-0. Now, the rest of the division could look like this after week 4...... Iggles drop one game - either to Da' Raiders or the Cheifs......... sitting at 2-2 Giants lose to San Diego then get upset at home by the Rams... sitting at 2-2 Cowgirls crush the Niners and then lose in Oakland ................. sitting at 2-2 Now we're up on the division and can finally play to win instead of not to lose. Gibbs will be calling the long ball more often and opening things up for Portis. Just in time for our week 5 game against the Broncos. I can't imagine losing that game, so now that puts us incredibly at 4-0. while the Giants are off week 5, the Iggles drop another one in Dallas. So after week 5 here's the standings........ Skins 4-0 Cowgirls 3-2 Giants 2-2 Iggles 2-
bulldog
this team is about 85% of the way to where it needs to be. coming up with that extra 15% to close the gap will determine if the Redskins are going to be contenders. the talent is here. the running game and offensive line are in place. the defense is in place. it comes down to the same three things we have been stressing since preseason: 1. Elimination of turnovers 2. Play at the quarterback position 3. Elimination of penalties and negative plays on special teams

bulldog
the Raiders are paper tigers, I don't see them being real contenders. They are going to lose a lot of 33-27 games this season. That defense is still held together by a day old bandaid

I see the Raiders being one of the worst teams in the league this year. That said I don't see the Cowgirls losing to Oakland either. I hate saying it, and I know two weeks into the season, but the Giants kinda freak me out. They looked good last night against the Saints. Eli looked good, as much as it pains me to say it. Picking up Burress, giving him a big target as well as a compliment to Toomer was a good move to help a young qb along. Whether Burress can stay healthy is another story. Tiki Barber is a great back, too. Not sure about their defense, Strahans not what he used to be, but he isn't a slouch. Pierce could help them out a lot. Not sure about their D-backs, either. Like I said, I know its early, but I can see how the Giants could be one of those outta nowhere teams like the chargers last year. Not quite as good, but not a team to be taken lightly. Lil Kenzo
Come on now. Who have the Giants played so far this season. The oh so powerful Cardinals and the Saints, both in New York. The Saints are struggling to find a home and recover while the Cardinals are well...the Cardinals. Not to mention that the Giants have the advantage of an extra home game. Granted their 2-0 just like us. But we made a statement by going into Dallas and coming out with a win. Neither of these two teams that the Giants have faced have the caliber defense that the skins' have.
bulldog
the Giants cause matchup problems on the outside. the Redskins, though, with our physical corners probably match up as well with them as anyone else out there. I agree that the Cardinals are not strong and the Saints were flat after beating a very good Carolina team on the road in Week 1. That said, the Giants didn't sleep walk through those games. They won them both by double digits plus. You can only win the game they put on your schedule Right now the Eagles only victory is over a team that was 2-14 last year, but we know that the Eagles are still a legit team, right? Lil Kenzo
Yeah the Eagles are legit...but the Giants...I don't know about them. They need to prove they can win on the road. Yeah they put up points. But against what defense? Think about it...the skins' held the bears to 7 points and then the bears go out and have a 30+ point game the next week. Dallas had a 4+ touchdown day against San Diego and then the skins' go in and only allow 3 points the whole first half and 13 for the whole game. OVCChairman
I hate to say it but i think that New Orleans season is going to be tougher then ever. They were a push over in New York. If you watch the game, they are not playing at full speed, which i dotn blame them for, but they werent at 100%. Too much psychological and emotional distraction, and you know they have to be tired from the traveling. I dont think New York is as strong as a lot of people think. ALSO, the atlanta falcons showed the world what it takes to beat Philly. If you have a decent defensive scheme, philly stands no chance, as long as you follow atlanta's lead. Thier O-Line looked like swiss cheese. Yeah they beat up on San Fransisco...but it's san fransisco. AND! Dallas has a strong defense, A VERY STRONG DEFENSE. And we see what we can do to beat them. The games this year that i'm interested in are the final 3...all NFC East opponents....

bulldog
Outside of the East, I see the Panthers and perhaps the Bucs. The North division with the Packers, Vikings, Lions, etc.. seems to be fairly weak. The Bears may not be out of this after all. If Orton has a half decent season they should leap frog the Lions and Packers. Maybe the Vikings come back or maybe they fall flat. In the West, the Rams are terrible. Some publications picked them to be a sleeper team for the Super Bowl. These guys are the ultimate soft, finesse team.
AJ_Skins
The Beasts of the East are back, we can never rest on our laurels regardless of how fat and comfortable they are. That's the danger after a game like this. Gibbs addressed this point today. The positive side is that the players proved to themselves that they can fight through adversity, but losing sight of the fact that we should have lost with the way the offense played through most of the game would be a mistake.
