bubba9497
Redskins top Dallas 14-13! By JOHN KEIM Examiner Staff Writer http://www.dcexaminer.com/articles/2005/09/20/top_news/01sportsmd20redskins.txt IRVING, Texas - The Redskins were done. Their obits were written. Their pulse needed to be checked, at least offensively. And then a funny thing happened on the way to their funeral. They came back to life. Washington's offense used two late touchdown passes from Mark Brunell to receiver Santana Moss to win for the first time in Dallas since 1995. The Redskins won, 14-13, to improve to 2-0. Dallas fell to 1-1 in front of a stunned home crowd, which sensed an easy win after Dallas had taken a 13-0 lead late in the fourth quarter. But Brunell, starting for the benched Patrick Ramsey, showed he still had life in his arm. And receiver Santana Moss showed why he's in Washington. First, Moss caught a 39-yard pass with under four minutes remaining. Then, after the defense forced a punt, Brunell and Moss quickly connected again. This time, on the second play from scrimmage, Brunell hit a streaking Moss for a 70-yard score with 2:35 remaining. Washington had not scored a touchdown this season until Moss' first score. Until Moss and Brunell got hot, Washington never got inside Dallas' 20-yard line. Brunell was sacked five times as the offensive line struggled to protect him. For a while, Brunell had a hard time finding receivers downfield, whether because of his arm or lack of time or they weren't open. Dallas scored a touchdown on its first play of the third quarter, a flea flicker that sizzled safety Sean Taylor and resulted in a 70-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Drew Bledsoe, who took a pitchback from running back Julius Jones, to receiver Terry Glenn. Jose Cortez's second field goal of the night, this time from 41-yarder with 5:58 remaining in the game gave Dallas a 13-0 lead. Cortez, a former Redskin, had kicked a 33-yarder in the second quarter, set up by a Brunell interception. The Redskins' offense managed 85 yards in the first half, including 33 passing.
