JoeKnowsBest
You know, I don't know if many of you are believers, but I am and I'm pretty sure Joe Gibbs is too. So before the game tonight I said a little prayer for God to use the game tonight as well Joe Gibbs to the better and for a few reasons that I will keep personal. Now one thing I've learned all my life as a christian is that God loves to test your faith. This is the number one thing... the good Lord loves to see what you have deep down inside before he shows himself. And tonight was no exception. After that prayer, I began to watch the game, and was given a little tease when I visualised the first Cowboy Field goal missing wide, then conjured up a little faith and it happened. Then as the game went on and we started to stink up the joint with all those little dinks and dunks, I felt myself losing a little control of my optimism. And of coarse the real test began when Brunell threw that first interception. At that point I had began to sink and forget the very fact that the Lord loves a test. Later, I would remind my self of the test that we are all put through with our faith, and and I began to regain some of that faith I had, and reminded my self of how mysteriously he does work. And through out the rest of the game, I kept reminding my self of that. And as the game looked like it was all over, at that critical moment, I sat down on my knees, closed my eyes, and said "Lord, I do believe!" Then I opened them to watch the very next play and BOOM! Santanna Moss catches a 50 yard bomb for a Touchdown. At that point, I was rejoicing and I knew in my heart that the Lord would help us to a win. But of coarse, as I mentioned before, he likes to test your faith and sometimes tease you. So the Cowboys march down and get close to kicking a field goal. But then as quick as you can get down, a couple cowboy penalties reasure the faith you've just conjured up. So then the Redskins get the ball back, and closed my eyes and said, "I know in my heart we will win this thing by your power, and I will give you the credit you deserve." That was the moment when the Lord showed himself again. That exact moment, Santanna Moss goes deep and the ball is guided right between the Cowboy defenders hands directly into Santanna Moss's Hands and he runs right in the end zone for the game winning touchdown! I instantly gave thanks. Now of coarse, remembering that he loves to test our faith, again he decides to let the cowboys get very close to having the play to get them enough yards to be in field goal range. But I never doubted beyond Santanna's big Touchdown, and in the end the Lord rewarded that faith. Now one thing to take note of is that I didn't pray for the Cowboys to lose or for the Redskins to win. I think that would the wrong thing to do when I know that God loves all people. But what I did pray was for him to be with Coach Gibbs and all the Redskins and to use them to build my faith and I had made a promise that I would give him credit for doing so. And that is exactly what happened. Now I'm not trying to preach here or anything. It's just that after this glorious win and all that I've just experienced, I felt the right thing to do would be to share this experience with you. And as Coach Gibbs just said, (and I quote:) "The Lord led us to a great experience here; (he) let us enjoy this great experience." And absolutely, tonight was a test of faith in wich the least bit of faith was rewarded and I just want to enjoy this experience with all of my fellow Redskins fans! I feel so bonded with you all at the moment! I haven't been through a experience / something this sensational in a very long time!
JoeKnowsBest
Being Dallas week, a sunday, and christmas again and all, I got to thinking about this again. I think it's a great reminder about the rewards of faith and being positive. And I think we could use a little bit of a reminder of that on this site considering how negative some people have been the past few weeks. "The Benefits of Faith are greater than the numbers of Logic." "Good things come only to those who believe they will come." Have a great Sunday every one! God Bless You, and enjoy the game! The next week against the seahawks, when seattle was about to kick the 40-something yard field goal for the win, I turned for faith as well. now, call it a coinsidence, but, ever since, I havn't done such a thing during a skins game. do you think that it might be time if things get desperate to "test faith" again? but hopefully it wont have to get to this
MustangSteve
About time someone believes in Faith instead of a stupid dayum jinx!!! Some people just crack me up by thinking if they hold there tongue on the wrong side there mouth that a bad play will happen. Joe Gibbs is a believer by the way and the dallas cowboys didnt jinx there selves, there fans strait up cursed them!!! By posting a sign on a church bullitin board saying God hates the Redskins and yes the pics here on this site. Plain and simple Joe Gibbs is a blessed man, every where he goes and everything he touches turns into Gold and Champions!!!! But that comes from not only prayers, but by hard work, dedication and the love of what he does and us fans. So to all the superstitious people out there, Im going to hold my tongue to the left, to the right and when i see the cheerleaders even wiggle it, and its not going to affect anything that will happen in this game. Only the hard work our team has done this year will pay off and the 12th man will be the icing on the cake!!!!

I feel so bonded with you all at the moment! I haven't been through a experience / something this sensational in a very long time! I'm sure this will bring me alot of :pooh: because this really isn't the forum for this type of discussion, but you started it, i have to throw my 2 cents in... Now, i realize you said you weren't praying for the skins to win or the boys to lose, but come on now, we know that's simply not the case. Religion is the most misused vice ever. Some of the things I've heard people pray for are just ridiculous. First of all, if there really is a god, do you think he cares about football? Second, with all the tragedies and disasters going on in the world, don't you think you could find something better to pray about? While there are families out there praying that they will be able to find away to feed their children, while people are sick, people are praying for their loved ones, etc, do you think it's appropriate that you're praying for your teams coach to have strength so they can win the game and make you happy? And with all these other prayers going unanswered, what kind of God is it that ignores the sick and poor and grants strength to Gibbs? And out of all the people that really were praying for this game, Cowboy and Redskin fans, what is it that makes you think God chose to grant strength to the Redskins and ignore the prayers of Cowboys fans? Have the Cowboys done something wrong to not deserve God's blessing? (Don't go there ) Do you see what I'm getting at here? I'm not trying to trash you or say that your religion is wrong, or that you shouldn't follow it. That's your call. What I am saying is that people use religion and prayer for the wrong reasons. When people pray that their favorite team will win, and when they do win, they believe it was a divine act, something is seriously wrong. People pray for personal gain. You may not see it this way, but that's exactly what it is. Don't get me wrong. I love the 'skins, and todays game will be even more important than the last game. I'll be glued to the TV for the next 3 hours. But not once, regardless of the situation, will any type of prayer cross my mind. It's not the place... So while you're watching the game today, and you feel the need to pray for that last second field goal, or the long pass to Moss, don't. Pray for the poor, sick and dying people of this world. Leave the game to the players on the field.

s0crates
If you have enough faith something will happen, it will. Everybody has some faith. They have faith that the sun will rise every morning and every morning it does. You already understand this, though. When you were a kid people told you: "Can't never could." or "You get what you expect." They were talking about faith. You get what you expect. If you expect something to happen, it will. If you want you can express the same idea in theological terms by saying, "If you expect God to help, he will." In short: you gotta believe. I believe baby.
