TODD
Ed Werder on SportsCenter says if Brunell were out for an extended period this season, the transition to Jason Campbell would begin. According to Werder, this is what Joe Gibbs "told his quarterbacks".
TODD
Patrick Ramsey is the backup tonight and would finish the game if Brunell were hurt at any time, however.

Ghost of
Werder has reported that that is what Gibbs told his quarterbacks that is what the situation is. Well, then that's just stupid. He's willing to toss the season (if it were to happen) to develop HIS guy, but won't even try to develop the cat that's already here? (and who likely would not cost the season.) Bradstinks
weird...this is my first post ever here...although I have read on a daily basis for over a year... Heres my question about Ed Werders piece...What if Brunell gets hurt next week or the week after....Is Gibbs seriously considering throwing away the season with a rookie quaterback early in the season? DieHardSkinFan05
I just heard on Espn Sportscenter that if mark some how had to leave the game tonight ramsey would start and go in, but if mark were to be injured for a long period of time they would get Jason Campbell ready for action.... im begining to think they may really be thinking about trading ramsey if they would let campbell start over him if brunell were to go out with an injury.. im just sick of this whole QB thing i just want a stable QB IS THAT HARD TO ASK FOR! :(

Ghost, Gibbs has no confidence in Ramsey at all. Thats the reason why he blew a 1st roudner on Campbell. It just follows the progression of events since Gibbs has come back to the Skins. This team isnt built to win it all right now, its built for when he leaves.

We have NO IDEA if Campbell is going to do a damn thing in this league and we're going to put all our eggs in that basket? So give a guy a few games, essentially, after being in a college offense blame him for other people's mistakes (bad route, clothesline) in addition to his own legitimate flaws and then you're GOING TO WASTE THIS DEFENSE ON A ROOKIE?! (not that it wasnt' wasted on Brunell last year.) That's dumb.

Hooper
If you ask me, Campbell is probably just as capable as making a great play for every bad play as Ramsey is. That's what rookie qbs do -- and unfortunately, it's what Ramsey still does.

That's what rookie qbs do -- and unfortunately, it's what Ramsey still does. Nonsense, Ramsey amassed a far superior rating in his final games as starter than the vast majority of rookies would be able to do. Give up on Ramsey, if you want, but to just insert a guy who looked clueless in the action he's had to MAYBE build a QB worth a damn, when you haven't given the other dude any time is ridiculous. Redskins_SF
As long as this team is in the playoff hunt, Ramsey will be the second choice. If we are out of the playoff race, then the Campbell era begins. Ramsey will be a short timer and will most likely be traded in the offseason. JMHO. DieHardSkinFan05
This is really not good for the team when we have these QB situations... i would really hate to see campbell come in as a rookie and play more than 1 game this yr as a starter over ramsey.. i can't be the only one.. That is a given at any position, really. The problem is there are other options here. not sure if this is true but if it is, please someone end this circus. The circus will end when Ramsey is run out of DC, and Brunell remains our starter for another year or two (along with his gianormous cap hit) until Campbell is (ever) ready. Hooper
Isn't what this report is saying? Because we all know the hard truth, even those who don't think Ramsey is the answer -- if Brunell stinks it up again, Gibbs is going to take way too long to pull him. Ramsey terrifies him as a player and I suspect he won't get another shot unless Brunell gets hurt and we're still in the playoff hunt.
Destino
Guys that makes a lot of sense. I don't think too many people still think that Ramsey is viewed as a long term solution for this ball club. Thus it makes sense that if someone needs to step in for a few games, Ramsey be the guy. If the season for Brunell is lost, it's time to look ahead and play the guy tapped to lead this club in the future.
