"WHAT RIVALRY"

In the days leading up to last nights game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins many people were asking "what rivalry". After what happened in that Monday night game those peoples questions were answered. After the beating Dallas took last night noone could possibly consider this match up a rivalry. The 44-6 score doesn't even tell how badly the Cowboys were ripped.

The Redskins supremacy over the Cowboys began before the first snap of football. A confrentation between opposing safetis Roy Williams and Sean Taylor broke out after the two collided near midfield during warm up drills. Apparently both teams were working on deep coverage on opposite sides of the field when the two made impact. After the crowds "ohhs" ended and the smoke cleared Williams laid flat on his back looking up at Taylor.

This clash seemed to pretell what would happen in the game. On the opening drive of the game Bledsoe was sacked three plays in a row, the third a fumble returned by Cornelius Griffin for the first score of the game. Bledsoe would never recover from those early hits, mainly because Greg Williams' defenense never gave him a chance to. Bledsoe was sacked 8 times in the first half and threw 2 picks. Both interceptions led to Clinton Portis touchdowns. At half time the Redskins offense had an average starting postion at the Dallas' 40 yard line, thus the stats didn't explain the Skins 27-0 halftime lead.

The halftime show, which was supposed to honor three Cowboy greats, was interrupted as a disorientated Drew Bledsoe wandered on to the field from the locker rooms. Bledsoe went on to try and fight Troy Aikman for his Ring of Fame honor award insisting that he had won three super bowls for Dallas in the 90's. Members of the Comboys' training staff eventually were able to get Bledsoe back to the locker room. When Dallas came out for the second half Bledsoe was not there.

Other supposed Dallas stars also struggled. Julius Jones, who Cowboy fans believed to be the next Emmit, was pulled from the game after a horrific hit by Redskins' linebackers Lavar Arrington and Marcus Washington in the third quarter. In an interview following the game Parcells said "I just couldn't watch them beat up my baby boy anymore". During that interview Parcells held Jones' head on his shoulder while Jones was apparently crying, sucking his thumb, and talking to himself.

Rookie linebacker Demarcus Ware, who Cowboys fans believed to be the next LT, left the game early with a bruised heart after he was ran over by Skins RB Ladell Betts. He would return in the fourth quarter only to be beat by Clinton Portis on a 69 yard pass play. On that play, Portis caught a five yard out and broke two tackles to get into the open field. Portis was running freely towards the endzone when a dazed Drew Bledsoe ran out from the locker rooms and onto the field to attempt the tackle. Portis proceeded to truck the hell out of Bledsoe and score giving the Skins a 37-0 lead.

Gibbs pulled his starters after that touchdown and the Cowboys went on to score their only TD with 12 seconds left on the clock. Gibbs, enraged by the Cowboy TD, threw his starters back on the field and Sean Taylor blocked the PAT. After the ensuing kickoff Gibbs' offense would go on to fake a kneel down and throw an 80 yard touchdown to rub the victory in the Cowboys face.

It didn't take long for the finger pointing and dismay to breakout in Dallas. After the game Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones and coach Bill Parcells were seen fighting in the parking lot. A confused Drew Bledsoe also was involved in altercations after he somehow got into the bleechers and attacked a fan with a Troy Aikman jersey. Witnesses said Bledsoe was yelling "Where are my @#*%ing super bowl rings Troy!". A riot eventually broke out over half of Texas and NFL officials have indicated that the Cowboy franchise will be suspended.

The Redskins(2-0) now sit alone atop the NFC East with the Giants losing to the Saints. Many NFL analysts, including former Cowboys' Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, are now picking the Redskins to win the Super Bowl.

With all the mayhem in Cowboy country and the 44-6 win for the Redskins' many people are again asking "what rivalry".
