Tarhog
On the NFL pre-game, former Dallas coach Jimmy Johnson stated in regards to the Ramsey benching: 'I trust Joe Gibbs, I trust his judgment...Ramsey CAN'T play' Consider fuel added to the fire. skinsfan93
on the pregame they asked about what's the issue, Ramsey or the coaches. Johnson's response... "I trust Gibbs and Ramsey can't play." Thoughts?

Phat Hog
Well, Johnson got one thing right...you've got to trust a HOF coach with 3 SB rings here. I trust Gibbs! Whether or not Ramsey can or can't play is debatable, but I think the spirit of what he was saying echos what's been said; Ramsey is too erratic to trust the future of the Redskins to. SKINS@THEGOALLINE
When head coach of the Miami Dolphins didn't Jimmie Johnson bench Dan Marino? Maybe his reasoning was the same?

tex
IN GIBBS WE TRUST! As does former Dallas Head Coach Jimmy Johnson!!! Wonder if that is a good or bad thing?
Danny Montana
I support Gibbs in his decision to bench Ramsey and think he made the right choice. But I couldn't care less what Jimmy freakin' Johnson thinks about the situation. I'm sure Johnson has watched a lot of film of Ramsey on which to form his opinion. Ghost of
Jimmy Johnson is just falling into line with the people who went back on their opinions because Joe Gibbs 'seems' to think a certain way.

terpskins
So now its two HoF coaches vs the infinte wisdom of AJ and Ghost TO be fair, all JJ's saying is that he has faith that Coach Gibbs knows what he's doing. It's not like he has watched Ramsey play, broken down film, and came up with this opinion on his own. So, his endorsement is not any more well reasoned than the thousands of "Trust in Gibbs" posts on this board alone.
Ghost of
It's funny how quickly people forget the Brunell critics from last year and the same people who use the word 'excuses' like a swear word against Ramsey proponents(or the merely anti-brunell) will give you a laundry list of excuses for Brunell's world-historic level of poor QB play last year. hypocrites. Also, you may want to keep my name out your mouth unless I'm in the thread, Sneed.
Hooper
Watch Ramsey on film. Now watch other starting qbs -- not just the good ones, just the average ones. If you don't see the difference, you're blind. He has no pocket presence, no poise, and he stills locks in on one receiver far, far too much -- he looks like a rookie. I hate to say it because man oh man, I hate Jimmy Johnson, but I think he's right.
Gamebreaker
Jimmy Johnson, like nearly all of these analysts on tv, doesn't know any more about Patrick Ramsey than any of us. These analysts are paid to watch games every week, EVERY SINGLE GAME, and it's simply impossible for them to pay attention to every player on every team. He's really just making an educated guess, at best.

I think I'd concede the pocket presence thing with you, he seems to have regressed since Spurrier in that regard, but I disagree on the other stuff. Mark locked on to one receiver as much as Patrick did in the preseason and this was noted SEVERAL times on this board. A lot of the 'conventional wisdom' isn't wisdom at all. unfortunately it gets repeated ad nauseum and becomes accepted truth.

Commander PK
Jimmy Johnson is right. I think that he is siding with Coach Gibbs, because he knows what Coach Gibbs is about. Winning games. If Gibbs believes that Brunell gives us the best chance to win tommorow, and for the rest of the season, then Brunell is who should be playing. What has Ramsey done that he should command the kind of loyalty that many are showing him on this site? Just because he's tough, and can take a hit? Multiple hits? I like Patrick, and I still believe that he's going to be a good QB in the NFL. Just not with Washington. With that said, I'm not nessesarily endorsing Brunell either. He needs to show more than he has, when it counts. IMO, If he falters, and we are out of playoff contention early. I think it's time to put the rookie in. Makaveli
I found it funny when one of the broadcasters for the Eagles 49ers game was talking about Tim Ratay possibly being pulled out of the game and he said something along the lines: "Most coaches dont like to pull out their QB ....unless they're Joe Gibbs" then the other guy goes "Yeah, poor Ramsey."
