Future of the Redskins??? Yours & my thoughts???

So here it is. Gibbs signed a 5 year contract. Forget Ramsey he will not be in playing unless someone gets hurt. (I'm not saying I agree or not) Brunell starts this monday of course and will stay in a good bit of the season as starter as long as he is healthy! If we don't make the playoffs or the season is anything like last year then Mr. Rookie (Campbell) will get his time. Jason is the future quarterback so I think he should get playing time anyway. I see a lot of good things to come from him I hope!!! Then the 3rd year is here. We do a lot better and make playoffs definetly with Campbell as starting quarterback. Once again we have a top 3 defense also. 4th year we are probally one of the most competetive teams in the NFL if we still have the same key players on the team and are healthy. 5th and final year with Gibbs is all about returning to the Glory Days and winning a Superbowl!!!

Campbell is NOT starting next year, not over my dead body. WE ARE NOT GOING TO SQUANDER THIS DEFENSE'S EFFORTS BY PLAYING A ROOKIE! I say Campbell is starting in year four and five, they reason we drafted him is so that he would have a two year apprenticeship to take over once ramsey's contract was up. The reason we gave up next year's first for Campbell was so that future QB after Ramsey could get an extra year of learning the system.

With the nature of the game, free agency being what it is, and players tired of losing (and a coach who doesn't promote continuity) your suggestion is ludicrous. The future is now. If Gibbs and "his boy" don't win this year this team will fall apart, Gregg Williams will be history and we're staring at more laughingstock. And I hate it.

Thank god you're not the coach.

Too true. :(

When Ramsey was starting, between he and Campbell, we had two potential quarterbacks for the future. Now after signing Brunell last year, sticking with him too long, and finally being shamed into pulling him, Gibbs has again made him our starter. The circumstances under which he pulled Ramsey have dented his credibility. Now if Brunell fails again, Gibb's decision making and his ability to coach in todays NFL will be seriously questioned. In all likelihood this will greatly undermine his ability to move this team forward. A great deal rides on this season, especially in the next few games.

I agree that that is probably the case with Campbell. Gibbs is so in love with Brunell, I could see him starting for another two seasons.

even since he went out and drafted Campbell as the future for this team?

Every time I hear this phrase, "the future of the Redskins" it get smore irritating. This is not an Eli Manning, Carson Palmer kind of pick. This is a situation where they overpaid for the privelege of drafting a QB at the end of the first round, which was higher than any other team had him rated. They're going to work with him, and try to get him prepared to play, but there is absolutely no guarantee he won't be mediocre or worse. I say again, this is not like we drafted Michael Vick or something. He's a player that Gibbs saw something in, that apparently no other team saw. Banking on him is no better than banking on Brunell.

This verging on beating a dead horse, but Ramsey is our only shot at a good record this year, and if he doesn't get back on the field and/or gets traded at the end of the season, we had BETTER find a good veteran QB next offseason either through trade or free agency, or we're screwed.

I agree. Many questioned weather Campbell is smart enough to be a QB in the NFL. Seeing him in the preseason game against the Ravens, he's got all the athletic tools, but it will take him a while to get his head in the game.

I don't know if that's it, but I do know he played on a team that had two running backs that were drafted in the first round, and ran the ball most of time, and that last year was his one good year in college.

. . . Gregg Williams will be history and we're staring at more laughingstock. And I hate it.

It has been suggested that Snyder, Gibbs, and Williams have a gentlemen's agreement that Williams will be the next head coach of the Washington Redskins, when Gibbs decides to step down. I don't think this scenario is far fetched. I certainly hope its true.

I think that's a possibility, but there is also a possibility that he'll get an offer well before that, and it will be up to him whether he wants to take it.
