The "vibe" here in Texas

Lone Star Skin Fan

Recommended Posts

I've never heard Cowboys fans so confident as I have this week..........

I don't know how much of it is based on the recent history between the two teams, (though it is probably 90%), the confidence in how good they are based on week one, or how sorry they think the Redskins are, but it is bordering on the confident arrogance the fans here had during the Superbowl years. It is absolutely sickening!!

Any of you fellow Texan Extremeskins experiencing this???????

I think we were taken more serious during the Petitbon /early Norv years than we are now!

This will be a win we remember for a long time. It could be the win this organization needs to finally turn the corner.

Can you blame them? I'm sure we'd feel the same way if we had a similar streak against say.... the Giants and they were coming off a so-so Week 1 win. I think it has more to do with the streak than the Bears game though. They've beaten us with some pretty bad teams and pretty bad coaches so it makes sense that they would be supremely confident with a team that appears improved coming off a big Week 1 road win. Combine that with Tuna's record against Gibbs and our perceived QB issues - hey it's tough to argue.

I'm not sure there is a real case to be made for us in this game but EVERY WEEK in this league, favorites go down hard. This could be our time to shake up the Cowboy loving world if the refs call an even game. :whoknows:

I have many many cowboy fans as friends. None of them have talked trash to me this week.

One guy has a bet with me on the game and he said he would spot me the 6 points.

I said I didn't need them...but hey, since he was giving them away....I would take them.

I am so looking forward to Monday night.

Dirk, you settled down recently. No wild rants questioning everything the Cowboys did this offseason? You don't sound like yourself man. Anyways, I'm hoping Parcells is letting the team know exactly what you said... favorites do go down hard and Washington's D is too good for me to sleep on the Skins. I do think Jerry is a genius for scheduling The Tripplets induction on this night though. Something tells me the emotions will be too much for the Skins on Mon... Too many factors .. first home game, it's the redskins, it's Mon night.. fans pumped over offseason, Triplets induction... I will be extremely impressed if the Skins steal this one..

It could have gone either way.

Same as the Dallas game. I think the skins got an INT in the end zone, if I remember correctly.

The Bears got in the red zone once, when Antonio Brown fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half.

Even if it "could have gone either way," how does that = the Bears should have won?

The facts are the Skins gained far more yards, allowed far less yards, ran the ball more effectively by over 100 yards, got the $hit end of calls to keep the Bears in the game, and Chicago also received more turnovers so you can't say that Orton handed this one to the Skins. Wash also never went 3 and out.

So what exactly about that sez to you that the Bears "should have won?"

I think it has a lot to do with everyone else in the country besides the members of this board realizing how horrible the bears are with their 16-year-old rookie qb that should have beat the redskins last week.

Wow, your still here. Get a life. Worry about your own team fool. Any given Sunday (or Monday). I'm glad were underdogs. Your team will be complacent, expecting a win.

Dirk -- I have some sagely advice for you:

Put Cowboy Blog on your ignore list immediately, as he is a super-duper-uber troll. I'm shocked that he still has a normal avatar. I'm shocked he isn't banned. The mods must find his posts amusing and want to keep him around.

As I've said before, when it comes to this matchup - there is just some kind of hex. It's the 9th wonder of the world. So I won't expect to win this matchup any time soon...at least until I see some bounces go our way.

But don't worry, I still feel the same way I did about Dallas a week ago. I'll let the Cowboys fans beat their chest without me raining on their parade every time. But just make sure you show up here when your team isn't coming off a win.

Orton, starting because of an injury to Rex Grossman, appeared calm in the pocket and made a few clutch throws, but his last three drives ended badly. A poor throw was deflected and intercepted by Lemar Marshall in the end zone, then came the drive with all the false starts, and then he lost a fumble when he was stripped of the ball by Cornelius Griffin with less than two minutes to play. He completed 15 of 28 passes for 141 yards.

"The interception was a big play, but I still thought he did good for his first time out," Chicago coach Lovie Smith said. "We have to do some other things better around him. Even with all that, I thought we were in great shape in the fourth quarter. We were in position to at least be able to get a field goal -- and the three penalties really knocked us out of it."

With any matchup with the Redskins I love the possibilities and often fear the realities. With our play at QB it is difficult to be confident in our team's ability to win any game. An advantage we have in this matchup with the Cowboys is we drastically improved the football team we have as compared to any point last year in terms of personnel and fit, while maintaining great consistency (19 guys starting who were starters at some point a year ago).

The matchups are intriguing given the Cowboys got bigger at the corner and we got smaller at the receiver either they will dominate us and swallow our small guys up or we will use quickness to exploit them. Our defense is the only true dominating unit on the field in this game, but, it all boils down to our QB play.

Brunell has to have a good game or we'll lose. If he does play well the Cowboys will get beat here.

Looks to me like a tipped pass and three false start penalities didn't hurt the redskins field goal team from beating the rookie QB.

Um, ok. What is your point? That the Bears were the only team to make mistakes in this game? Try to be more than a troll. Perhaps use your own words. Or did you not see the game?
