A Walton
Would someone please enlighten me to the proper etiquette to have at a game? I am in a section that is very very subdued. When I stand during a defensive series I can feel the leers and hate burning thru me by the people behind me. This prevents me from cheering on the team like I would like. The people directly behind me are elderly and I know that they have been skins fans far longer than myself and they have spent the same amount of cash as I did to be there. Need some help here people....what do I do? Anyone else have this problem with their sections?
Jody
Stand up and raise hell, of course. It's a football game, not a round of golf.
jwebst1
agreed, it's a football game. I remember people in the lower level at RFK standing the entire game...... hell, most of them had to just in an attempt to see over the players..... Blade
Make a deal with them... if they wont stand up and dont want you to stand either, you tell them that they need to make a LOAD of noise whenever the defense is on the field.... but if you cant hear them cheering, then your butt is standing up. Need some help here people....what do I do? Anyone else have this problem with their sections? I find this funny because on Sunday I had an elderly man (I'd say about 70) threaten to knock me out three times. This is no joke. It was a very heated exchange. I stood up during a play to cheer and afterwards he said something to me, and said it quite rudely. I apologized and that was that. Then during the Santana Moss 51 yard reception I stood up while he was running with the ball and the old man said something again. Even more rudely this time. It progressed from there, rather quickly. I told him I wasnt intentionally trying to get in his way but that I was excited so I stood up. H literally threatened to knock me out. I wish he had tried. I had several people come up to me and my family afterwards saying that the old man was a jerk. I told him to get used to it because I'm a season ticket holder. I think you should keep others around you in mind, but feel free to express yourself how you see fit. Definitely dont get in other peoples way intentionally, just be respectful. It is a football game. I think people should understand. This is one of the reasons I miss RFK. Everyone always stood up in that stadium.
portisizzle
I say anything goesso long as you do not hurt anyone and you do not cuss. I brought a neighbor, his wife, and his 13 year old daughter to the game last Sunday. The only thing that bothered me was the eff this and eff that and **** and etc. Hey guys it is a sign of sophistication when you can argue and cheer without cussing..... yaknowwhatimean??? A Walton
Right on...in the lower section. Can't figure it out. Too many corp. tix? There were times last week and all last yeat that me and my buddy would be the only one standing on a great play or a defensive stop. ????? don't get it. A Walton
Blade, that is exactly what I will do. Thanks.
riggins44
The way I see it, you've paid your money and have every right to stand up and yell. You could either give a polite sorry or high five the older couple. Getting them into the flow and excitement might surprise you. Just try to be respectful, but don't let it ruin your experience. A Walton
I wish there was a way to get the whole section rolling that isn't the wave.
sonsofwashington
Sitting loses ball games......plain and simple. I guess you can't expect a 70 year old man to stand up, jump around, and scream like he could in his youth, but if he has aquired any new capabilities in his old age it should be politeness. Sounds like you were the scapegoat of his frustrations.....still no excuse. What can you say......some people are just anal.
A Walton
I think that one of the more creative members of this site can come up with a new cheer. If we all do it, it can become a staple, and fast. We need something more then hail to the redskins - b/c that normally is sung after a score. On defense, we got "de-fense" , "de-fense". We need something else. Let's get something started here.
GhostRider
At 'skins game the majority of people seem to prefer sitting down. In college at vt everyone stood up most of the time. It's really hard for me to sit down during a game when I do I usually jump up during all the big plays and everyone gets pissed. Oh well... Darth Tater
I don't like standing but that's because if I stand the whole game, by the 4th quarter (probably middle of 3 now), I'm out of energy! I guess that's the price you pay for getting older or maybe I just need a fan's daily exercise plan. BTW, I clap (real fast) the whole time the defense is at the LOS and usually keep shouting something like "shut 'em down" until the play is over. I was wondering about the Atlanta game the other night! When Atlanta was on offense, their players had to ask for silence and they were at home! Now, most of us here know that you don't make noise when the offense is at the LOS, but we also have a message on the scoreboard to remind us, do they not do that in Atlanta? IronMike
I am in Sec. 135. I have no problem standing, nor the long-time fans who sit around me (same folks from RFK). My problem is with: 1) all the idiots who wander in and out during the game; you are here to watch the game and cheer loudly for the Skins, not wander around stuffing your face with food; and the bozos who wander in the aisle, scratching their *ss, trying to figure out where to sit, saying 'Hi" to their friends, talking on their cell phones, etc.; and 2) all of the vendors who clog the aisle. Get out of the way! I cannot see the game, even if I stand up!
hercules
Stand up and turn around. If they aren't standing, reach down and haul their asses up!
Fifty Gut
who cares what the people around you think I only censor myself if there are kids around, but that's only language wise if there are no kids, then I'm going buck ****ing wild for my team if there are kids, I'm still going wild, but without certain words
4thStBully
i sit in the lower endzone and it was wild. even the older lady who sat next to me was pretty rowdy. a few bears fans were also loud and crazy but by the 4th quarter things had gone from friendly opposition to downright ugly (beer kicked in i guess). i loved it. if anyone tells me to sit, which i dont anticipate happening, its not gonna happen. if anybody tells me they are going to knock me out, i probably wont be a season ticket holder for much longer... Hollywood2k3
Stand up and raise hell, of course. It's a football game, not a round of golf. I agree!! I was at the game in the lower level suites and I was still raising hell when we made a play!! Thats the nature of a fan, it's basically your job. Don't worry about the people around you, just enjoy the game! :point2sky
70Chip
This shouldn't be hard. Stand up when the whole place stands up, clearly. Otherwise, try to be considerate all around. Standing up in the middle of a play is kind of rude even if the people behind you are clearly ambulatory, because they have no way of knowing when you are going to stand up, so they are almost definitely not going to see the end of the play. That's inconsiderate, no matter how self-absorbed anyone is.
roqnap1
My Dad signed over his tix as soon as he didn't have the knees/back to stand the whole game. He didn't want to be like said 70-year old fan who doesn't stand and gets annoyed with not being able to see. He gets the best view (in his opinion) every week on his TV. Hey...as long as he's happy. When I go...I'm standin'!
skinsfan12
Kind of surprised that a cowgirl parasite has barged in and told us that our opinions of the FedEx atmosphere are wrong and that they have a much better fan system at that cr@ppy field of theirs. Win on Monday and let the good times roll... :dallasuck .
