TheGreek1973
before we make ourselves look like idiots by cutting down a HOF coach that has made this team what it is. He deserves better. Many people have made their feelings heard since the announcement of a QB change of our team, me included. What I want to do in this thread is ask fans in here a few questions so that we many come to understand why Gibbs would go back in his word (as we know thats not to be taking lightly) to start Ramsey this season. My questions are based on what we know and what many fans in this forum have stated or thought so hopefully this sums up this issue and we can look forward to the Dallas game not with fear of what might happen but with confidence that Gibbs does know what is best for this team right now. We are judging Brunell because of his horrible performance last year. True or False? If its true and I bet it is then why don't we also judge him a little on his performance in preseason this year? I thought he played great, even if he was going against second stringers. He was accurate and if not for Brown dropping 4 balls that hit him in the hands he would have had an incredible QB rating. Looking at Brunell this preseason to last preseason when he was named the starter he looked like night and day on that respect also. Question is did Ramsey? Now I don’t know if this performance upgrade of Brunell is because he was hurt last year or better yet because his old QB coach is here or the playbook is more to his liking but it was just 10 days ago when we had people in here, Ramsey fans like myself who were stopping and thinking, man maybe we should go with Brunell. You guys know who you are don't deny it. Ramsey. We have for the past 3 years at least, try to come up with every excuse in the book for him on why he is not performing to the level we think he can. Everything from the old ball coach getting him killed, to not getting a fair shot, to being hurt so he couldn’t really shows his stuff. And why not? We get a game like that second game last year against the Giants and you say man he is going to be a great one until you remember the first game with the Giants and just want to kill him for blowing the game by throwing 3 INTs in the redzone where 3 field goals would have us sitting at 2-0. Then you get a solid game with the Vikings (he has an INT in that one also but lets forget it for now) but then you think of that second Philly game where a field goal ties it but on 1st and 10 from the 23 he throws in double coverage for another INT. I don’t know about you but if my job was HC of this team “rollercoaster” rides like this would be the last thing I want. To sum it all up here comes the obvious questions. You are Gibbs. You have all those OTAs, Ramsey is named the starter he practices and practices and you go into your first preseason game....second....third and fourth and the guy who is going to lead your team has 2 Tds..but FOUR INTS with one coming again in the redzone. Hell he didn't look much better than last year's preseason IMO. You ask yourself man WTF has this guy learned since that second Philly game? But still you put him in to start and once again his second pass is an INT, then a fumble and even if the hit that took him out was illigal you ask why the hell didn't he see the blitz, all he had to do step out to his left, like Brunell would have done, like Brady does all the time like 90% of the average or above average QBs could have done. Is this guy blind? I am also sure because a few fans including a friend of mine that were at the game Sunday and a couple of preseason games, t looking at film makes Gibbs wonder. Why? Because as stated by these fans our receivers are getting open, heck not just open but in some cases Wide Open but since Ramsey locks into his primary receiver like a deer to a set of headlights he doesn’t see them, holds the ball way to long or worse he doens't fire when he should and by the time he does the receiver is covered. So I ask you what would YOU do if you were Gibbs. If you went through an entire off-season preaching ball protection, smart plays, field vision. Would you start a QB that has looked average to terrible this off-season and really no improvement from last year or a QB that has looked like the QB you spend 42 million and a 3rd to sign? In addition as things are you also have a D that will get you to the playoffs if you just protect the ball and score 17-20 points. Who would be your guy? My answer and I hate to say it, Brunell all the way. The facts without excuses demand this answer, atleast for the next couple of weeks until we see that Brunell the guy from last year. codeorama
As Skins fans, we have no say, we just need to sit back and watch and let the team do it's job.

MRMADD
"why don't we also judge him a little on his performance in preseason this year?" Here's a little history lesson for you: Danny Wuerffel goes to Osaka and beats the living crap out of the 49ers. Threw 3 TDs, including some acrobatic passes to avoid sacks. Did that spill over into the regular season? Preseason means nothing for veteran players. If you're assured of a roster spot, you avoid injury. Brunell was playing against guys who aren't in the league. How can you judge a couple of preseason games -- that weren't that great! -- over his proven miserable performance last year in real games? Or even in the game last Sunday? The man threw for a grand total of 70 yards and was allergic to the end zone. Again, a triumph of hope over experience. Underwater Ally
I dont even know enough to know that I dont know.I think Ramsey got off easy.... Brown fumbled and got fired. Firing Ramsey and releasing him from this joke of a situation would be doing him a favour. If Gibbs has this little faith in him, he should have been traded a year ago, or at the very least, never been promised the starting job. There is sufficient evidence for supporters of both Ramsey and Brunell to make the case that their guy should start. But however you try to rationalize it, the timing of all of this is inexplicable. I have to disagree. Ramsey is being payed by the team to be WHATEVER the HC thinks he should be. This is a team and if a HC thinks one guy over another has a chance to win then everything else is just argument. I bet a lot of us Lavar lovers are pissed of at Gregg Williams NOT for starting Holdman. doesn't work that way. Imagine how DB felt when he found out Brady was the new QB of NE after taking them to the SB. I don't see anyone complaining about that move. I am not saying Brunell will take us to the SB but man just look at Ramsey's last games. He has thrown an INT in all the preseason games, in the last 3 games of last year and started off with an INT in the Bears game. Thats 8 games in a row this guy has thrown a INT. Oh and for the guy that brought up the fact that preseason doens't matter, for Ramsey it does matter. It was he showcase to say I have learned different and I can lead this team. Even with preseason anyone of you felt this guy can lead us?
