Burgold
Yesterday, I asked if the Ramsey benching, the Arrington demotion, and the second stringing of our first rounder was about accountability... about proving yourself on the field and earning a position. Yesterday's action makes me more hopeful that Gibbs has taken that position. The cutting of Antonio Brown is a clear accountability sign. Great potential, did some nice things in practice, but failed to get it done in preseason and one game. He is now cut. This sends a strong message to the team as does Patrick's benching about turnovers and its acceptability. The days where a guy is a starter because he is a star or makes gads of money must end. If a guy misses assignments, turns the ball over regularly or is guilty of tons o stupid penalties there should be an impact. Sadly, I like both Brown and Ramsey, but you can't make a bigger statement than benching your qb and firing a guy. We've had sloppy play for too many years. We've got to make it unaccepptable. crimmel
I 2nd that motion! Gibbs has stressed turnovers aren't excusable since day 1, and he acted on those actions just as he did with Ramsey, albeit a more drastical effect.
TheDane
That's completely true. It's sad that it's come to this, where our players don't respond to coaching alone, and now we must use bigger measures to convey a message. But if that's what it takes, then I'm all for it. Buck812
As long as Brunnell gets the same treatment then I will be all for it as well. If Brunnell gets the "Played Bravely" and "Our QB Fought His Guts Out" treatment again after he throws an INT or fumbles then it wont mean S**T. TheLongshot
Should bench Patton and Jansen as well, since they are probably just as responsible for the turnovers as Ramsey is. I'm only half kidding. Jason
knowledge316
Arrington and Rogers have not been demoted or being held accountable for anything. They will be our future starters. Just being slowly brought back, one because of injury, the other because he's a rookie. The only accountability has been Ramsey and Brown. Even for Brown, he was most likely cut to make space for Novak.

When you say "since day 1," talking about after 9th game last year right?
fansince62
buck...I agree...if MB throws one pick and flubs two fumbles all in one quarter - whether his fault or not - get him outta there....so we can see the same in the next quarter!!!! After a quick start, he exploded by dropping all of those passes in preseason and his punt returns were awful. Fumbling the way he did - by letting the ball get stripped out while carrying it loosely - well you just can't have that. I think that if Hall was OK, we might have called Rich Parsons up from the PS or resigned one our our cut wrs.
