QB & Gibbs not to blame

I'm amazed how so many "fans" on this board continue to say our poor play last year was because of MB's arm and Gibb's play calling.

Do you not remember all of the dropped passes? Do you not remember that our receivers couldn't get open last year? Of course the play calling became more conservative - nothing else worked except running & quick outs.

Put aside the play calling after MB came in against the Bears. It was very conservative, but we were in the lead. While Ramsey was in we took some shots and had receivers open. Even MB made some intermediate passes.

The difference this year is that we have a corp of WR's that can catch & get open. You will see more exciting offensive play in the weeks to come. And when that time comes all of the "Joe must Go" fairweather fans will be wishing they hadn't doubted him.

IN GIBB'S WE TRUST

I agree.

The receivers are just flat out better this year.

Neither Brunell or Ramsey had guys getting open last year.

So far this year both Moss and Patten have and Ramsey's been pretty good at hitting them. He's benefited from the changes the team made over the offseason.

But Brunell hasn't gotten the chance to play in this new set up and I think Gibbs believes Brunell will be better than Ramsey once he gets a chance.

But for some reason people keep evaluating Brunell based on last season when things were much different.

The number one reason our offense failed last year was because we were running an offense straight out of the 1950s. Of course, Brunell's arm strength didn't help, and neither did the dropped passes, but I don't think you can pin our struggles on the receivers before you talk about the quarterback play and Gibbs' schemes.
